Re: Snickerd00dle's Summer Challenge 2012 - have you started
Jumping around tonight to get my feet wet and feel out which game(s) I want to concentrate on next:
Garou Mark of the Wolves - seems pretty great. I mean... about as great as most of my favorite SNK fighters (NeoGeo Battle Colosseum, KOF98, KOF13, etc)... though small-ish roster. But yeah, looks like it's good stuff...
Daytona USA - O..M...G! This is a great racing game. I'm not too sure on the timeline though. It was *around* the same time as Ridge Racer? Cuz if so... fuuuuuuu Daytona wins big time. Tried a few times. Best I got was placing 15/40 on the beginner track so far.
Cthulhu Saves the World - I'm fairly sure I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of this one. It's got that nostalgic 16bit sprite look and some pretty great writing so far. Though I'm torn between sticking with this or Vice City as my "long game" currently.

Man, I can't juggle multiple games at once.
I can only seem to focus on one at a time. I'll begin Golden Sun soon (maybe Tuesday?), hope it's as good as everyone says it is. I'm gonna have to pay replacement docs a visit first, as I own a cart-only copy with no instructions.
I'll be playing the game on my DS. Wanna know something kinda funny? I've never played a Game Boy Advance game on an actual Game Boy Advance.

me neither really. I tend to focus on one or two at a time. Usually a longer one and a shorter one. Just feeling the games out to see what I'm in the mood for really.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Man, I can't juggle multiple games at once.![]()

Really? I think both have there merits, but Ridge Racer is the stronger game.noiseredux wrote:It was *around* the same time as Ridge Racer? Cuz if so... fuuuuuuu Daytona wins big time.

Ridge Racer, Daytona USA, and Gran Turismo are my top three car-racing game series (in that order).
You playin' the Saturn version noisey?

I guess I need to try cleaning the contacts of my Star Fox cart. I played through to the last stage the other day before dying, but in every run since then the game has frozen up around stage 2 or 3. The FX chip is just too much for my SNES to handle, I guess.
Does anyone know if there are any compatibility issues with the SNES2 (the smaller one)? That's what I am using, but I suspect it is just a cart problem.

I think it's only clone systems that have problems with Super FX chips. And usually those crash right upon starting the game, not several levels in.
Sounds like the cart needs a good cleaning. Don't use Windex.

I'm playing the XBLA port, which I suspect is the arcade game rather than the Saturn or DC port, right? So maybe it's unfair to compare it to Ridge Racer.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Ridge Racer, Daytona USA, and Gran Turismo are my top three car-racing game series (in that order).

Daytona might be an hd DC port, alot of the DC stuff was ported over.
I was more of a NFS fan growing up, till this day I still get my friends and family to have fun in a casual game of Hot Pursuit on the PS1.
Im doing pretty good with my 3DO challenge although I may not make it to the 300 games played mark, I have invested time in over 20+ games in the last 4 months!
Latest romps were with Fifa,Slam N Jam (which happens to remind me of a hybrid of Double Dribble and NBA Jam!),PGA Tour 96,Soccer Kid,Ballz:DC and nudging my way through Luciennes quest.
Others Ive conquered thus far or played well enough:
NFS (completed)
Road Rash (completed)
Escape from Monster Manor (level 4)
The Incredible Machine (level 33)
Immercenary (completed)
Family Feud (casual/family)
Fun N Games (completed)
Star Fighter (comleted)
Pataank (completed)
Cyberdillo (level 3)
Ultraman Powered (completed)
Virtual Cameraman pt1 (completed)
D (completed over 30x My Top Ten game of all time)
Wolfenstein 3d (completed)
Primal Rage (completed)
Gridders (completed)
Mind Teazzer (completed)
Zhadnost (casual/family)
Battlesport (completed)
Starblade (completed)

If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.
