There's really nothing to it, it's so tiny, and I actually like being limited to just a handful of albums. As with the piles of games I have, sometimes I'm paralyzed by the sheer amount of choices available to me on the Xtra and/or my hard drive. I do rotate stuff through my Stone all the time.

I use foobar as my media player. It takes up barely any resources, which is important because my computer is kind of old, and is a breeze to use as far as tagging and general music file management is concerned. I can't use it with any of my Creative players though, so that is a drawback.
Can foobar import winamp plugins? I once read that it could. If it could gain support for all my game music plugins, I'll switch to it.

Tell that to my friend who owns a C2D macbook and an ipod, and it just stopped detecting her ipod one day, forever. The ipod still works on their 500mhz Windows XP machine, lol.
Probably user error. I've never seen an iPod do that on a mac. Nothing that a re-install of iTunes wouldn't fix. Besides if you have an Apple store local to you they would probably fix it for her in 10 minutes at the 'Genius bar' (man I hate that term).

I don't know the details, but she took it to the mac store and they didn't fix it. I cant imagine how she broke it if OSX is so solid and idiot-proof'd like people say.

I have a 30GB iPod. I'm thinking about upgrading to a newer model, preferably whichever one has the most storage. Right now, I'm currently using some headphones (not the wraparounds) from Phillips. Before that, I had a pair of earbuds, but they crapped out on me. I think it's cuz I keep my iPod in my pocket when I go out. But the headphones I have were rather cheap ($10 at Ace Hardware).

I've got the 1 gb Sansa Clip and I've been really pleased with it. First one I bought had a defective battery, but Amazon sent me a replacement. I've used it for months at the gym and it still works great. It's cheap, durable, holds a battery charge for easily 15 hours, and holds more than enough music for my needs. My only gripe is that I can't listen to music by folder.

I don't know what's so special about Ipods. I have no intention of ever buying one or using Itunes for that matter. They just seem over priced and marketed to people more hip than me.

Not sure. Check out this page and see if those extensions match what you're looking for.

portable audio

Get a ipod, I have had my ipod video for over a year and no problems. It has to be the best thing i've bought in a very long time, I use it more than any other piece of electronics I own and thats saying a lot, I love my gadgets. Plus with Song Summoner and Sonic out for ipod which are great games by the way and I'm sure more are on the way there is no excuse to pick one up. You can put a ton of movies, pictures, games and documents on the thing. I work about 70 hours a week and this thing is my best friend when I'm at work next to my DS. Also I highly recommend the imaingo 2 speaker case for ipod which is about $40.00. For a small system it packs quite a punch that will surprise you and your friends. You said something about game music files I think you can put SNES music files on ipod but not NES. Most of these music files can be found on Underground Gamer in a format that will work on ipod anyways thats what I did. I hope this helps!

Actually, I used to have a Creative MuVo TX FM, but it was only 256MB. Then I scored an 8GB Zen MicroPhoto, after someone couldn't get it to work. But they let me have it after I finally got it to work.

My brother, right now, is using a Creative ZEN.

My mom used to have a 128MB MuVo TX, but now, she has a Phillips GoGear (8GB).

I have a 1G Sansa m240, very good product. Although finding the song you want is very difficult when you have a ton of songs.
