Thinking about getting component video cables for my ps2 to try out my new monitor, should I get the official ones?
or save a few bucks and try to go for a cheaper one?

Component video cables for PS2
Consoles: NES, Famicom, SNES, GC, GB DMG, GB Pocket, GBC, GBA, DSI XL, N64, VBoy, NDS, 3DSXL, Wii, SMS, GEN+CD+32X, GG, SAT, DC, WS, WS Color, NGPC, XBOX, 360, PS1, PSone, PS2, PSP, PS3, 3DO, CD-I, NGCD, Actionmax, TG16+CD, TE, PCE-DUO, Odyssey2, Playdia, 2600, Lynx & JAG.
I bought cheap unofficial cables and they became unshielded after 1 year of use so I bought the official ones and they work great! You probably arent going to get any significant improvement in video, and certainly not sound, but the build quality will be better, and they have better shielding, meaning there wont be any interference if you run the cable close to say a power cable or coax.
Consoles Owned: Nintendo SNES, Nintendo GameBoy Color, Nintendo GBA, Sony PSX, PS2, PS3, Sega Master, Microsoft XBox

I use generic cables and they work fine. Only problem is some overscan on my LCD TV.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Official PS3 component cables work on the PS2; that is what I use.

It goes vertical so I hooked up my Dreamcast but to my bad luck it turns clockwise to its vertical position and all but 2 games can turn the other way around. For now can only play this way Triggerhear Exelica and Castle of Shikigami.
