Ah ok that makes sense.

I've got the Japanese Mr Bones, that works ok though. Don't know if you've played it, but there is level select screen and it autosaves after every level. If you pick one of the levels from the other disk, it just asks you to switch. It must not do a region check on the second disk.

It would still be cheaper for me to buy a Japanese saturn than the PAL version of Deep Fear. Plus I've been looking for an excuse to buy a white one for a while :D

Yep, and they be getting worse. Even the relatively common games are going up in price. Thats why I got an AR cart. Normally I prefer to collect PAL only games for my consoles, but I ain't rich enough to do that with the Saturn

Hey, neat thread. It just so happens that last year, I started working on a "100 import-only Saturn games in 10 minutes" video. I pooled together my own collection along with three of my friends back in Arizona before I moved to Japan earlier this year. I recorded footage of all their games back in December or so, before I packed up and moved in early January. I am currently bidding on a few Saturn games on YAJ and expect to be getting those in the next few days. Currently, I am at about 85 games and counting. Recent purchases include Dungeons & Dragons, Purikura Daisakusen, Tokimeki Memorial, Quo Vadis, and Lunar.

I will paste the list of games of what I have or will soon obtain when I get home. I would really like to get Wonder 3, Time Gal, and Street Fighter Zero 3 someday. I hope to have the video put together by the end of the year.

X-Men vs Street Fighter
Z Gundam

Here are a few more that are auctions that will be ending tonight and tomorrow, which I expect to win:
Magical Drop III
Pretty Fighter X
Royal Slayers 2
Yumimi Mix Remix

These are actually spread between two auctions. This will raise the number of games to 91. These games are also on my to-buy list, and will likely be added to the video list:
Advanced V.G.
Cyberbots
Gradius Deluxe Pack
Policenauts
Saturn Bomberman Fight
Sega Ages: Galaxy Force 2
Shining Force 3 part 2
Snatcher
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Time Gal
Wonder 3

I may not bother with the Gradius Deluxe Pack, though. I once owned this, and I sold it because I wasn't impressed. I remember that Gradius 2 was glitchy for some reason. When it comes to Gradius games, I prefer the console-ized versions rather than the arcade ports. The same goes for the Gradius collection on the PS2. I sold that one, too.

If you can find an extra copy of the Japanese game, I'm interested in trying it. I have the PAL release and it features the same crew behind the SCD game, but I'm curious if the Japanese version was a little more dramatic or not.

Also, greg, no Cotton: Boomerang? And the aforementioned Bulk Slash, Groove on Fight, et al?

Sentimental Graffiti is NOT import friendly if you don't know/memorize the TokiMemo-style menus. (And in that same vein, TokiMemi: FwY -- at least the Sakura Taisen titles have very detailed walkthroughs.)
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

I should be receiving my Keio Flying Squadron 2 in the mail today, yay. :) Rancor is a friend of mine. Is he on this forum under a different name? I've never ran across any posts of his here.

The list is of games that my friends and I pooled together from our own collections. Actually, my friend does have Cotton Boomerang, but I think I forgot to borrow that one from him. I will check my computer at home to see if I had recorded footage of that game, but I don't remember doing so. I do have Cotton 2, at least. He also has some sealed new games that he refuses to open up and enjoy. He has no intention of selling them, yet he still won't open them. He had a few other titles that were actually pretty boring. A bunch of El Hazard image discs and such that I really couldn't get into. His Pretty Samy text adventure game was cute, so I included it.

I guess the list I posted is somewhat off-topic, because it does list a few games that are 1. shmups, and 2. not-so-playable for the Japanese language-impaired. It's not a "100 import Saturn games you ought to own" project; just a "100 games we didn't get in North America for one reason or other that are worth checking out if they interest you." Perhaps most people on Racketboy don't care much for text-adventure/simulation games such as Tokimeki Memorial or visual novels like Yumimi Mix Remix. However, there are people out there who dig these. The list also contains Japanese-langauge RPGs like Slayers, Lunar, and Grandia that won't be of much use for those who can't read any Japanese at all.

Last year when I made the 100 PC Engine Games in 10 minutes" vid, some people reacted negatively and said, "Why didn't you include <game X>? It's my favorte PCE game evarrrrrr!1111" Well, 100 games is quite a lot of ground to cover, and it's necessary to pool together resources from friends and use what you have available (and what you can afford to buy). I had Groove on Fight once upon a time, and I couldn't get into it much. I rather preferred Gouketsuji 2, actually. I might get it again someday; I dunno. I've never heard of Bulk Slash until reading this thread. I will have to check it out.
