Sega Saturn Not Spinning Disk
Sega Saturn Not Spinning Disk
So I just bought my first Sega Saturn from my local Gamestation for £25 with Sega Rally and Sonic Jam, controller and all the leads, a pretty good deal I think. When I booted it up at home the disk in the drive refuses to spin. The CD player screen comes up and says "Checking Disk Format" then after about 20s that message dissapears and the game does not boot. At no time during boot up does the disk start spinning.
I'm going to take it back for a refund tommorrow if I can't fix it tonight. Any ideas?

Yeah I think I'll just return it. Such a shame I was looking forward to playing with all the things Saturns can do. Ah well. I'll keep looking on ebay and in shops

Well I returned it today and w3as hoping for my money back, but ended up getting a replacement. They had a 2nd gen Saturn boxed in the back room that works perfectly. Unfortunatly, I broke the scart cable that came with it when I was plugging it in (in such a rush to play
). So now I have bought a new RCA cable off Rackets shop. I've been looking for ways to say thank you to him for this site so this and a mod chip that I will buy in the near future will be perfect

Yeah that exact one. Sonic Jam is pretty scratched and keeps crapping out when starting up, and Sega Rally has no manual. So probably not the best deal, but perfect for a first Saturn. Then again, the first one I bought was a dud, so not a great start! Sort of puts me off buying from them again if they don't check the consoles first, but they did a no hassle exchange for a working one, so I'm not complaining!
By the way did you see the Vectrex in the window? £80 seemed a bit dear and when I made them get it out it was scuffed up and without the correct overlay. They are dreaming with that price.

The Gamestation in merryhill has one about every months and thery are always £80 no matter what the condition but for that price I would expect the overlay to match the game that come with it. Thats the thing with Gamestation though, they take no account for the condition of the retro stuff when pricing and they really screw you when they have something rare to sell. The not so rare stuff is normally a decent price though.
Have you seen there collection of MegaDrive RPG's downstair? they must have found a crate of phantasy stars somewhere cos they have loads.

And the couple of copys of Night Trap on Mega CD. They must have been there for years! No one would pay that price for a bad game in a broken box. So glad that this branch still does retro stuff though, all the others I've been to all detroyed their months ago, it's a crying shame!!!
