Cartridges without sticker

Post by Broodstar »

How do you guys feel about the cartridges without sticker? Do you add them to your collection, or they don’t deserve the attention?

And a second question: have you ever tried to make custom stickers? If yes, how, what materials have you used?

The main reason for those questions is that I’ve found three gbc games for sale that are pretty rare, but they don’t have stickers (and I only have cartridges in good condition in my collection): Zelda Oracle of Seasons, Pokemon Crystal and Pokemon Trading Card Game.

The only way I'd even consider a label-less game in my collection would be if it was like, Star Fox Super Weekend or something genuinely rare like that. Even then it'd have to be an especially good deal.

If you're wondering about whether to buy those games, I'd probably pass on them. Those games aren't rare in the slightest, you'll find other, better copies.

I generally avoid getting games where the label is either missing or damaged, or if they have something like a sticker on the label that would be difficult to remove without damaging the label. Of the copies that I own where the label is damaged, I was given, but the thought of getting a better copy has crossed my mind.

As for the games you mentioned, yeah those games aren't that rare. I'd rather wait to find something in better condition.

I usually ignore game carts without a label but a very good point about maybe a rare cart might be missed. I need to start carrying my GBA to the Swap Meet to "test" the unlabeled games.

As for a replacement label, its easy to do with your printer.

Considering you're n Europe, which is flooded with GB bootleg carts, I'd make very sure they're legit before picking them up. If they're real and hard to find in your area, I might pick them up if they're the right price.

No game is worthy of being in my collection without the sticker, and if it was star fox weekend or dk comp cart, i would flat-out sell them.

I don't buy stickerless games, but I have had the urge to to replace some of the more ragged stickers in my collection with custom ones.

I'm not concerned about resale value so if you want to "restore" a stickerless game for your own personal enjoyment I see nothing wrong with it.

Just be careful you're not getting a pirate cartridge or a completely different game.

I wouldn't buy a stickerless game unless it was worth a lot as something to resell. I'd never want a cart like that in my collection. It's even worse than boxless disc games IMO.

If its a disc-only game, you can at least tell what it is! :D

Buying a stickerless cart game is like playing the lottery, except the chances of "winning" are even less.
