Street Fighter Zero 2 ALPHA...

Post by CD AGES »

Is there anyone here who owns (or once owned) the CPS2 board for this game? Or does anyone have a nearby arcade establishment who's running it?

For those who are unfamiliar, Zero 2 Alpha is an update that Asia received exclusively in the arcade sector, If I recall correctly. After Capcom released Alpha 2 in the states with more content over its JPN couterpart (Zero 2), Japan then got an exclusive update that featured all the Alpha 2 content that Zero 2 lacked, and a major rebalance update (hence the Zero 2 Alpha moniker). The game eventually saw a release outside of Japan on home consoles under the name "Alpha 2 Gold" found on SF Collection (PSX, SAT) and later on in Alpha Anthology (PS2).

Unfortunately, I've never had any sort of arcade board before, but I do have Alpha Anthology for the ps2.

I was wondering if that was the same as Zero 2 Alpha. I would love to get my hands on the CPS2 version some time in the future.

I'm not certain, but I think someone on the Shmups forum was selling a board for this.

This is exactly the reason i posted this thread. While the documented changes for the balance changes in Zero 2 Alpha are present and accounted for in Alpha 2 Gold, My question revolves in the investigation of Zero 2 Alpha's soundtrack in its arcade form. In Alpha 2 Gold for both SAT and PSX, the game has the identical Arrange soundtrack that Capcom made for the home version release of the original Alpha 2 (Zero 2 in JPN). With Alpha Anthology, a home version of Alpha 2 was finally released that retains its original arcade soundtrack for the first time! In this same compilation, Alpha 2 Gold still has that arranged soundtrack that was used in the console versions of both Alpha 2 and Alpha 2 Gold.

Does the arcade version of Zero 2 Alpha have this arranged soundtrack or does it have the same CPS2 soundtrack from Alpha 2??? or did they just keep it in there in Anthology to further differentiate it from its predecessor???

Here's someone using an arcade emu with TAS tools to abuse the game. It should tell you pretty clearly what's going on with the music.

I wish there was a mode where you as player 1 have to take on 2 CPU opponents at the same time

Awesome! Thanks Marurun. My question has been answered. As I expected, it has the music from the CPS2 arcade.

@ d123456: sounds like Alpha 3's dramatic battle.
