Thanks. Yeah. That's part of the reason I asked. I would imagine that most everything from the last....5 or so years would look pretty good on Blu-ray, but some of those earlier series....

Guess I just want to know if there is anything I should avoid.
Actually I find that when it comes to blu ray, older stuff with nice transfers tends to look even better (or at least more striking) than newer stuff. Of course that kinda applies mainly to live action...

Any good blu ray release of an older anime is either going to be an upscale (using algorithms that look better than whatever your player/tv does on the fly) or have to be a new transfer from the original film prints. So you're probably looking at movies moreso than series.
There's actually a few series out there, Zeta and ZZ Gundam, Patlabor (OVA's and TV), Space Adventure Cobra, a few off the top of my head. They look utterly insane.

Yeah, but nowhere near as much stuff as there should be.

Gunsmith Cats OVA and Project A-Ko are ones I'd love to see on blu.

Watching Blassreiter right now. The battles are fun, the story is interesting, the characters outside some anime cliches are memorable, but I have a huuuuuuuuuuuuuge issue with the drama.

It is veeeeeeery forced, and they are portraying the Germany of 10 years ago (not sure if it's the 90s, cause this being futuristic it might take place in 2100 for all I know) like it's the fucking Nazi Republic. Bullies can get away with beating the shit out of everyone and killing people, and     this anime trope REALLY annoys me. I don't know if these things happen in Japan (if they do it's one HELL of a fucked up country), but this show is portraying Germans like they are still as racist as they were in the 1930s :S

I'm surprised I forgot to mention Bubblegum Crisis. I have to imagine that's gotta be one of the sexiest BD releases.

Something like Gunbuster would be nuts.

I still need to see Project A-Ko myself.

Yu Yu Hakusho, Mazinkaiser SKL, Shin Mazinger, Gundam Unicorn (blu ray only?), Redline, Gungrave, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, the Space Runaway Ideon movies, all look freaking amazing in blu ray. There's still some stuff I've yet to check out as well like NGE stuff, Studio Ghibli movies, Samurai Champloo, Casshern Sins, and some DBZ movies.

Overall I've been nothing but pleased with blu ray anime and look forward to every new release I hear of. I'm sure there are a few botches here and there but most of these releases squeeze a ridiculous amount of quality out of the original cuts.

I started watching Gintama(ik im very late) and I am extremely pissed at myself for not getting into it sooner. Its becoming one of my favorite series. Im going to try to watch the entire thing by the end of the summer.

I was also thinking about giving Stein's Gate and Black rock shooter a try. Are they any good?

The one show I think desperately needs a BD remaster of sorts is City Hunter. The DVD's I own and every rip I've seen online from other sources has really horrible interlacing, so it gets really fuzzy sometimes. The art and animation itself is freaking amazing though, so it'd be great to see cleaned up in better video quality. Sunrise of all people produced it too back in the early 90's... well I'll keep dreaming for this one.

@Godot102: I've generally heard really good things about Steins;Gate, one of the better new sci-fi shows out there apparently.

I know I said I didn't enjoy the first four episodes of Love Hina too much... but I saw the complete series on sale really cheap today so I bought it.

And I know this is a harem anime a thus a little bit risque... but damn the packaging makes it look like hentai! I was a bit embarrassed to walk this up to the sales clerk, tbh.
