Not looking for job...well, you get the picture.
I have (I think) under 30 FB friends. It's not like an exclusive list, but I am selective. Plus I'm 30, which means every chick I know wants to post pictures of their babies doing nothing, all the time.

I'd be more specific, but I'm not exactly sure. I'd generally guess the Japanese. A Japanese couple I've talked too on a couple of occasions makes jokes about it all the time and everything, so I guess them.
(If there's any problem with the conversation, we can stop, if needed)
So long as no one gets offensive with it (read, inappropriate jokes, etc), then it shouldn't be a problem.
Certainly there are some cultures that foster an earlier age of maturity in both males and females, (Thailand, Vietnam, others) and subsequently we may view their normalcy of young (14-16yo) sexual relations as inappropriate, but they as a culture may not.
Other cultures (China, Mongolia, Myanmar, Bhutan, N. Korea, others) are male dominant and women are often second class citizens (or worse) and this can lead to what we (westerners) would consider inappropriate sexual relationships and dominance (possibly assaultive, rape).
But mostly, I think it is just like our culture in the states, anything way out of the norm is magnified and then tied to an entire culture.
Not all men Thailand like 10 year old boys or think it's appropriate to put 12 year old girls into prostitution, but it does happen, and it gets magnified as "accepted" by all Thais - which I would certainly think is not the case.
Just like all Brazilian women are not sex-charged maniacs.
Not all married American men are on Adult Friend Finder or other swinger sites.
Not all Pakistanis support gang-rape as a form of retribution for some real or perceived sleight.
But those things do exist in those places, so they become magnified and stereotyped.

Throw your babies or stop sending me pics.
Oi. I know that feeling. It feels like half my female friends all conspired to have their children in the same year, so now I'm bombarded with little round, chubby baby faces every day. Yes, ladies, they're cute, but I don't need an hourly update on the status of your child. Once a week is quite sufficient.
Understanding maturity and sexuality in the scope of Asian cultures is pretty tough. The most important factor to remember is that historically life in Asia has been cheap and short. When the next warlord, famine, or revolution can come around the corner at any time, you tend to develop cultures where you live fast or you never get to live at all.
Of course, this has changed a lot in the last few decades, especially in China and South Korea. But in a lot of the former Chinese vassal states (Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, etc) people still grow up fast.
Japan, of course, should never be included in any discussion of common societal threads in Asian cultures. Japan was never a Chinese vassal state and did not pick up the Confucius way of things until way late in the game.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
Im from the Indochina region and i can tell you that rape is look down the same as in the west. Of course some people would do it, but if they get caught you end up in jail just like anywhere in the world.
Also in Indochina area there is a culture where the men are the man of the house, but as the time changes and women take on more serious jobs, the role of women have change wether at home in business.
Politically from my knowledge both Vietnam and Cambodia government are ruled by mostly men.
EX: Meeting between China and Cambodia in Phnom Penh.
mjmjr, know that I do not intend to make a sweeping generalization or anything like that. I'm just trying to get some information, out of a mix of curiosity and helping a friend with a project. (The project is to find examples of taboo subjects being more accepted or even promoted amongst cultures other than ours.) From what I've been reading, you seem to be correct on the Koreans view on the subject. From what I've seen, Japan leans towards the idea that it isn't necessarialy right, but not necessarialy wrong. It seems to be some sort of general belief that the one being raped will come to find it enjoyable partway into the act.
