Worlds of Ultima and Ultima: Worlds of Adventure 2
Worlds of Ultima and Ultima: Worlds of Adventure 2
Has anyone played Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire or Ultima: Worlds of Adventure 2: Martian Dreams? They're unique spinoffs to the Ultima series, and right now, they're both FREE on GoG.com.
Huge RPG fan.

Great news!
And since you're the guy looking for Japan-only RPGs, did you know that The Savage Empire had a Super Famicom port?

lol, no I didn't. Was it any good? I heard Ultima VII sucked on SNES compared to PC, but I had only ever played the SNES version and loved it.

Good to know! The first one is seriously tough to find on 3.25" floppies for PC. And that's the most accessible format for me aside from GOG...
I have the second one, though I haven't really played it.

Isn't one of these the game that came with a cassette tape, or am I thinking of a different Ultima game?

Not sure, I've only tried the PC version of Savage Empire.KoLAddict wrote:lol, no I didn't. Was it any good? I heard Ultima VII sucked on SNES compared to PC, but I had only ever played the SNES version and loved it.
And yeah, the original PC version of Ultima VII destroys the SNES port. It's no contest.
And to answer the original question, both Worlds of Ultima games are quite good, especially for free!
Re: Worlds of Ultima and Ultima: Worlds of Adventure 2
I suspect you're thinking of "Ultima: Escape from Mt. Drash" a VERY rare VIC-20 game Sierra put out without getting Richard Garriott's approval for the use of Ultima in the name.KoLAddict wrote:Isn't one of these the game that came with a cassette tape, or am I thinking of a different Ultima game?
I'm under the impression that that's the only "Ultima" game that was released on cassette, and AFAIK the other games had tapes as pack-ins (but they did have a variety of other super-cool stuff).

Yeah that's it, thanks. It was in an old Game Informer I think a year or so ago, so it's kinda stuck in my head.
I've never played any Ultima title on PC other than Ultima Online, so I'm looking forward to trying these two, which I don't think I had ever heard of before.

I snagged this too. I've always wanted to play these games, as they are slightly off kilter from the normal Ultima games...
I love GOG.com!

It should also be noted that GoG has had Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar for free for a while now.
