"Too many sequels" isn't the problem in itself. It's the fact that developers can only seem to release a certain number of sequels before effing it up somehow by either straying too far from the original games (Final Fantasy with it's MMOs and ridiculous spin-offs), crippling it with DRM (Diablo), and/or releasing it on a platform that doesn't make any sense (this current case of Valkyria Chronicles).

On the flip side, there are still many RPG series that keep cranking out great sequels. Etrian Odyssey, Legend of Heroes, Ys, and Tales of... come to mind.

I agree and disagree with some parts. FFXI was a loved MMO by many and had some success. XIV was bad. Maybe people wouldn't have minded as much if they actually didn't name them as numbered games in the series. The ff spinoffs have been hit or miss. FFT have been great additions.

Diablo 3 isn't crippled with DRM. It is one of the best selling PC games now and I have probably logged in over 100 hours on it and have had a blast... I understand some hate the always online aspect of it, but as I am online all the time it hasn't bothered me. Even back in D2 days I played my singleplayer on bnet as you couldn't play offline guys there. The way they have streamlined everything utilizing the benefits of online only has helped offset the negatives.

I would've preferred a PS3 followup to VC, but the PSP is a good platform for srpgs...

My sequel fatigue comes from the non sports games that have yearly or year and a half release cycles. These games usally don't differentiate enough from the original.

Wow, that's great Sega. Give us more of what people have not been asking for.

I'll just go back to playing VC1 now.

Maybe they are testing the waters for another console sequel?

It's free. You might as well try it.
I'll stick to games that don't delete my save file every time I clear my cookies. (cloud-based saves are even worse)

Clearly, the batteries in my cartridges die on a weekly basis.

If this is 'testing the waters', they're testing the wrong waters.

You know...if it's free I might try it. Free is good. But why this? It's Sega's best new IP in a long, long time. And why are there cards? Why are there cards in a war game?

It's really strange that it's for browser, but what's up with the game design? Oh well. This whole thing is incomprehensible.
