Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

has anybody ever completed gta2

Post by jackspicer »

I picked up the ps1 gta trilogy that has gta, gta2, and GTA London at a garage sale for 1$, years ago when i had this game i would just run around and blow stuff up but now i was thinking if it was worth a full playthrough? Has anybody actually beat this game, is it long, was it worth it? and how does the dreamcast port compare?

There isn't a bleamcast port. But GTA2 was ported over to the Dreamcast during its lifetime.

Dreamcast version is higher resolution but otherwise exactly the same.

Yeah, it's a decent port. The gameplay is the same save for the really annoying analog-only movement control, but the sounds and stuff do seem different.
I've been playing it on occasion on my PC, and from what I can tell there's two ways to save: Get a ton of points, like 50K or so, or save at a church which costs points. I haven't gotten past the second level, but I can't imagine it's that much different the further you go. Maybe there's some twist, but I bet it's just different levels, which isn't that bad really.

GTA2 was a personal favorite of mine, but I never got around to beating it.

Never beat a single GTA game, actually. On III and Vice City, I stopped with the final bosses, and on San Andreas, I stopped at the worthless plane missions.

Never did anything other than cheat and run mods on the first GTA.

GTA sucks. I am kidding of course but sadly as much of a retro guy as I am after playing a 3D GTA I could not go back to the PSX versions.

That being said Super Mario World is still the BEST GAME OF ALL TIME.
