is the skeleton saturn an easy mod job?

Post by ninjainspandex »

so i just ordered a skeleton saturn, i already modded my american model 2 sega saturn a while ago and it was super easy just soldered to the power supply and just did the a to b solder on the chip and was good to go. so can i do the same for the skeleton saturn, or do i have to actually solder to the chip? the chip looks pretty damn small and im so nervous about wrecking it. if its to difficult i may just swap the shells with my already modded saturn.

Why not just leave that poor skeleton Saturn alone? You already have a modded one, what's the point in having two?

I honestly don't know.

Do you have the skeleton sitting in front of you? I would imagine you could discern if the mod was possible without even opening it up.

I ment putting a mod chip into the skeleton saturn to play burned games. It hasnt shipped yet so i dont know what the board looks like but i have been doing some research and it looks like the skeleton saturn has compatability issues most notably metal slug which unfortunately is one of my favorite games on the saturn. So i think i might just go ahead and swap the guts with my modded american model 2 saturn. Bottom line is i bought this saturn to play and for its sexy looks. The case swap should be pretty easy to do right?

The Skeleton Saturn is almost exactly the same as the model 2 so installing a mod chip in that should be just as easy.

can i just solder a to b on the chip and the other wire to the power supply or do i actually have to solder A to the 14th pin on the chip?

I think it depends on what type of drive the Saturn has for the A-B jumper.
