Problem with Xbox Controller

Post by Kyle »

So I've got a problem with the "Fatty" kind of xbox controller model
Image

When it's plugged in, it only executes UP the whole time, like on Auto/Rapid-Fire. I tried different Controller Ports on my Xbox, but it didn't change it. I already opened it up to see whether there is dirt in the analog stick or the dpad, but everything looks fine.
Any idea how to fix this?

I'm leaning towards the stuck DPad up, but maybe the stick could be bad? Take a close look at the left Analog stick potentiometer and see if it moves when the stick is bumped. Scruntinize the pot itself for movment, maybe the little pin sheared?

If it's just off from neutral position and not entirely broken, try holding it up while booting up the console, then returning it to the center.

I tried adjusting potentiometer, but it goes either only up or down.
I also tried holding it in the up position on start up, none of it worked.
