Using a Quality Winged Spear + 4 and the Crescent Falchion.

I don't really use magic anyways, so yeah probably just best I spend those souls on stats/weapons. I've been stuck forever with the spear though, needing clearstones and stuff that are apparently really hard to come by.

You know you can get unique weapons forged by Ed? You have to give him the flame lurker soul first. Don't use any yet. I am on my phone and it's about to die so I can't get in to more detail.

Edit I totally didn't read that you said weapons in you last post

After beating the first boss (who is super easy to beat, no matter your stats) what you can do is spawn at his Archstone, kill a few dudes, then snipe the reaper at the bottom. Use the ring that makes it harder to see you. Then turn around and jump off the cliff to kill yourself to speed things up. When you respawn, repeat (pick up your souls from the bloodstain before you kill yourself again).
To add to that, when you get to the last area with all the flying mantas you can use the sword of storms (i think that is what it's called) to cut them down or use a bow with whatever soul boosting items you have. Then you jump off the cliff into the water, return to archstone, pick up body, and do it over again. So far it's the fastest way to level up after the reaper.
Wouldn't killing yourself a lot mess with the tendency?

No, only dying in your body affects tendency.

So I've been going through the game in a weird order I did
1-1
4-1
1-2
3-1
2-1
2-2
I think I'm going to finish 3 so I can get the monk head wrap and craft the morion blade and just pump my vitality till I get to a decent point where I can feel comfortable running around with 30 percent health.

Does anyone know if I can still get the makoto after already beating 4-1 and not finding it? I know I just need to change the tendency if I can still get it. It would really help with my clever rat build.

I like how you caught up to me in like a day.

If I recall right you can't do 1-3 and 1-4 until you've cleared everything out. You want to save 5 for last because the poison swamp sucks so very very much. You can also hop around a bit, such as doing 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 2-2, 3-2, 4-2 if you find yourself getting stuck on a -2 stage. Beating 4-1 does unlock one of the best soul grinding areas in the game, so that also helps.
Looking over this again, so 1-3 and 1-4 are the toughest areas? Think I'll focus on finishing off 3-2/3 now, and then 4-3 and go from there.

1-3 isn't bad I think there are a lot of soldiers there but it ain't too bad. I'd say 1-4 is simple I always kill everything there and leave the boss till last. If you didn't like the flame lurker you'll hate the king. You can cheap him out if you shoot arrows at him when you first walk in and don't move but you'll need a ton of arrows.

I'm dreading going to 5-2 though fuck the swamp that place sucks.

What is your play time at? I'm at 5 hours now myself.

5-2 is easily the hardest and most hair-pulling area in the game imo. 1-4 is pretty rough though. 1-3 is no big deal.

No I've beat the game probably about 6 times. I can never cut it on ng+ though so I always start new characters instead of dying a ton. With my build I'm doing is going to be a pure power house though so it shouldn't matter. Clever rat, morion blade, ring of magical sharpness and the monk head wrap should be a death machine.

Going to do the maneater now hope he doesn't knock me off  I'm killing myself in the nexus just to be safe.
