Re: What shmup are you playing now?
yeah Joint Strike is just fucking bland. I'm a fan of the 194x series. But this is shit.
Re: What shmup are you playing now?
Is that the "newest" entry to the 19XX series? I thought it didn't look all that impressive.noiseredux wrote:1942 Joint Strike... it's terrible.
Don't know what happened to me on Gekirindan..... can't even make it out of stage 2 now. Glad I got that 500K a few nights ago. Will try that again soon.

What did I play today?
Quite a bit. I'll use cuts to reduce pic-spam.
Super Space Invaders '91 (on Global Arcade Classic cab)
Gyruss (on 60-in-1, Stage 15)
Time Pilot (on 60-in-1, completed one loop, Stage 6)
1943 Kai (on 60-in-1, Stage 5)
Back to the other 2 here later on!

I picked up Silpheed: The Lost Planet for $1.50 today at a flea market. In nice shape and complete - is this any good?
I'm kicking myself because I passed on the original for the Sega CD a couple times at the Too Many Games convention yesterday.

just nabbed the 1cc with an extra life in stock. ahh what a nice feelingEllertMichael wrote:Mushihimesama 1.5![]()
finally get to play this game without having to drop $2300 on the PCB
already made it to stage 5 mid-boss! & my deaths were all stupid mistakes with full bomb stock
1cc within reach!
wicked cool. very fun.
wait. are you talking about Futari? cuz i'm talking about the Matsuri version of the first gamedunpeal2064 wrote:great choice Ellert! You are pretty dang close to that 1cc.
Do you know about the extend in stage 5? Comes in after the midboss, you have to blow up a roof without destroying it with a bomb.
I would slap someone if they spent over $2000 on that PCB though$500 is more ballpark, but you still saved a good chunk of change.
Mushihimesama 1.5

i was thinking about what you said and after the stage 5 midboss it's crazy hectic and in my head i'm going "where'sthefuckingroof? where'sthefuckingroof?!" and trying not to bomb at all
it all worked out though!

...
I've been sick the past few days. Terrible cold or terrible allergies. Add to that it's been in the 90's, so I've been doing a lot of lying in bed (where the air conditioner is). So anyway, I've been playing the boss rush mode of Iridion II in short bursts.

Gekirindan - a ton of slowdown, especially before bosses on the SAT-J version - I don't love this game, but I feel like i'm really good at it, now that i'm not overcompensating.
Bullet patterns are pretty easy to negotiate with subtle movements and there are a lot of areas, particularly stage 3 where you can just position center-bottom and don't even have to move once you max out on powerups.
4th boss is a bit of a bear, but i'm hitting him no prob each run now with all lives in stock and my last run managed to no-bomb the first 3 levels, which really helps the score.

I'm playing the freeware shmup Radio Zonde. It is horribly, horribly beyond my capabilities, and I'm loving every bloody second of it. Well, after I'm finished weeping. Has anybody here ever played it?
