Super Famicom to Famicom cartridge converter
Super Famicom to Famicom cartridge converter
I was at a huge nerd paradise store called [url=[/i] in Japan's Nagano Prefecture (although actually, they've gotten rid of their PCE, MD, SAT, and DC games, much to my horror) last night and I saw an interesting converter cartridge. You plug it into the Super Famicom and then plug a Famicom cartridge into the top of that, much like the Genesis/Master System or the converter or the Super Gameboy works. I took a picture, but it was with my cellphone and I don't know how to get pictures off of it yet. Has anyone seen this? It seemed to have RCA cables included for some strange reason. I wonder how reliable the hardware is and if it has the visual glitches that Famiclones seem to have?

Sounds like it is just a famiclone using power and controllers from the SFami then and it outputs to the TV, not the system. There's that Retrogen that does the same sort of thing. You run a cable out of the adapter to the TV.

Well seems it is just going to be a clone on a chip with (likely) composite out only that uses your console for power and controllers. Being able to use your own good controllers is certainly a plus. I suppose if you're desperately low on space and don't mind any slight incompatibilities and such I guess they might be ok. But I haven't used one so I'm just speculating.

Someone posted a review of this thing a couple weeks ago

Satoshi Matrix did a review on his YouTube channel. It seems it is just a NoaC that runs off the SNES power through the cartridge port. I'd steer clear.
