Oh wow... I think I've been assuming the equip weight number is 50%, when... that would obviously be 100% capacity. Wow...

Yeah, I will have to mess with my equipment tonight then. I keep hearing that about the armor (but it sounds like armor actually does something in Dark Souls?), so I'll have to see about putting on lighter stuff.

Yes, in Dark Souls armor was noticably buffed and they also added in rings which increase your max equip weight greatly, so you can wear heavier armor and still be able to roll fast. The heaviest armor you still can't roll well in but it has enough defense that if you combine it with good shield use you can survive quite well.

I went through a good portion of Demon's Souls with the flop roll until I started messing with my gear and discovered there was indeed a quicker roll. You can also use the Ring of Great Strength to increase it but honestly being able to evade quickly should take priority over your physical defense stats (which, as MrPopo said, aren't all that important).

Anyone have a suggestion for a light armor set? I think I'm going to run my mage with the clever rats ring and that knife I can't remember the name of set up so I can do super high damage. I've never rolled a pure magic character before and don't want to spend forever on the wiki looking at armor. I just know I'm not going to put any stats in end, str or dex if I can help it.

Did you roll a male or female? There are several armor sets that are male or female only.

Gloom is unisex and has really good resists across the board, but weighs 25.9
Black Leather is unisex with amazing poison resistance and only weighs 3.1
Ragged is female only with amazing disease resistance and weighs 9.1

Shit I rolled male. I forgot about changing sex in the character creator. I always rolled female so I could use the helm of favor I think it was, the helmet that is just like the avarice ring and gives you more souls. Well time to start a new character. At least I'm not very far I only have the phanalax beaten and I'm right at the tower night. I've been blueing it up there since it's my favorite boss in almost any game.

I think it's bracers that are female only and give you the extra souls. But yeah, in general female characters get the best stuff in Demon's Souls.

So I rerolled a female character and took out the phanalanx then went to get the crescent falchion in 4-2. I was doing so well I decided to keep it up and took out the ajudicator which felt awesome since I usually hate that level. I ended up getting myself killed trying to do a drop attack on the reaper right after I've killed myself a bunch so far just trying to jump across gaps and do other stuff you can do in dark souls. Face palming pretty hard but still just laughing because I do it in stupid easy spots where getting my stuff back isn't an issue.

Completely destroyed the Flamelurker.

It's good to know how to roll.

Any other magic I should bother with? Trying to decide if I should keep some of these recent boss souls or not.

What are you going for weapon wise? Honestly I'd only keep the souls I need for my equipment and that's it.
