What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Call Guinness.

Frown:

Well get this: My Father emailed me asking my I haven't sent a card yet. I asked, "Pops, you do know Father's Day is on Sunday?".

Apparently my Sister's Husband's Father (I have no clue what relationship term I have) had a heart attack on Tuesday. He's been in the hospital since and will be home tomorrow. They put a stent in his right artery which was blocked in the high 90%, and once "recovered" he'll have a stent placed in left artery which is also blocked in the high 90%.

Call me crazy, but if my Father in law barely escaped death and wasn't out of the woods yet, I'd call my family. Hope he gets well asap, and I hope his son learns something from this. A paula deen diet get you far in life.

Happy: Won a PSP in an online auction (propertyroom.com). I never actually win anything!
Ticked Off: Just went out to buy a charger and some games. I get home and find out it won't read anything. Fricken' lens is scratched.

Seems like nothing ever works out... ugh.

Luke, sorry to hear about that situation. Hope he makes a speedy recovery in time for Fathers day.

Yes I'm in the same boat. My wife has been gone since Wednesday and won't be back until Sunday night. Both today and yesterday I didn't wake up until noon. Yesterday I didn't even get around to showering/brushing my teeth until 2:30 pm. I feel like a total slob.
Oh man I would totally get so much gaming done, if all the girls were outta the house. :)
In theory this is what I always think will happen. Gaming, woodworking, organizing, etc - but just never happens. House is quiet, nothing is moving and then the cloud of depressed silence drops on me and all I manage to do is...nothing, but stare at the clock or look out the window until wife/kids/parents, etc, come back.

The crazy thing is, when i'm going to do something (woodwork, game, paint, whatever) I WANT to be left alone, but I need them here, just not on top of me. Maybe WE'RE the normal ones? And maybe Mitch is a sociopath?

Thanks pal. Certainly a Father's Day they won't forget, and I say that with no sarcasm.

I hope this is a wake up call for his family...my niece is barely 9 months, and already her Father has diabetes and a history of heart disease.

it's so weird how alike we are man. A couple Sundays ago my wife my plans with her mom 8:30AM on Sunday morning. So I'm like "awe yeah, games all morning!" I was thinking I was gonna like beat a full game from my backlog and then post up some new high scores on shmups...

...got up, made coffee, browsed RB, played like 15 mins of a game, laid on the couch in a weird lethargic daze until my wife got home.

EDIT: And yeah you're right. I feel like I'm only "comfortable" to be alone when my wife is nearby. Maybe it's a priorities thing guys? We need to KNOW that our girls are safe/content before we can be?

Damn, sometimes this place creeps me out.

That is exactly how I am, and I thought it was abnormal.

I'm pretty sure everyone is like that. Schedules and structure is not a bad thing, regardless of how much we hated them as kids.

Ok, this I can understand, most of the time when the girls are "outta the house", it means that Sara is at work (and safe) and the girls are in bed (and safe). I haven't had much time where they are out of the house and all together somewhere else.
