Best Versions of Resident Evil
Re: Best Versions of Resident Evil
Yeah... that would be nice for the rail shooter RE games like Umbrella Chronicles, but we're talking RE4 here.
Re: Best Versions of Resident Evil
I actually like RE4 on the PC a lot. You can run it at as high of a resolution as your computer allows, so on mine at 1920x1200 it looks great. You can mod it too, so there are high resolution texture packs available for it now that really make it look a lot better. It's true it's a port of the PS2 version so it doesn't have as many of the fancy lighting features at the GC version, but I don't think it really detracts from the game much at all.

Re: Best Versions of Resident Evil
For RE4 I would say Gamecube based on instinct, since I personally can't stand the motion aim controls for Wii. If the Wii version supported gamecube controller, then maybe that version. Also is there a difference between the 360 and Ps3 versions of RE5? I've played both and didn't notice much of a difference.

Re: Best Versions of Resident Evil
Okay I just personally played the GCN versions of RE 3 and RE CVX...
Ok I just checked this. Looks like the GCN FMV cut scenes do indeed run at 60 fps! Not bad.
I still prefer 480p visuals, Mercenaries unlocked from the get go and additional costumes (2 of which are exclusive to the Dreamcast).
There you have it folks.
Just checked for loading. Can't Speak for PS2 port, But loading between CVX on GCN and the original CV on DC is identical or looks to me that way. I'm sure the perception of loading on the GCN version being faster was perhaps compared to the PS2 version.Resident Evil Code Veronica X: Gamecube barely wins for its faster loading time. Is it fast?
^I would really like to know because I kept hearing that CGs in RE3 DC didn't run at 60fps, which was one of the things people were let down by when both RE were released for the dreamcast.

Re: Best Versions of Resident Evil
Resident Evil Dreamcast talk here. Some observations I've made.
It appears in VGA mode for Dreamcast, RE 3 character models look much sharper but seem to have an awkwardly noticeable filter that slightly distorts the models as they move about. The models in RE 2 don't seem to experience this issue. They just look as sharp as can be with out any issues even while moving.
In terms of the games pre-rendered backgrounds, RE 3 has a significant advantage over RE 2! The backgrounds in RE 3 seem to be displayed at a much higher resolution than its previous release. The backgrounds for RE 3 in VGA look outstanding!

Re: Best Versions of Resident Evil
Gamecube & Wii are superior to others for RE4
PSN- jacktsang05
WiiU- jacktsang05

Re: Best Versions of Resident Evil
Since the Gamecube has smaller tighter tracking discs, it should load faster then the PS2. However, the PS2 version loads very quickly when installed to the hard drive.CD AGES wrote:Just checked for loading. Let's be real hear. This isn't a legit feature by default, like say Street Fighter Alpha Anthology that allows you to install the game to your PS2 HDD to reduce loading!
