I've been reading a lot of posts and even in depth explanations about the different versions of the games and I would like to share what I got with you people just to see how you guys feel about it.
Resident Evil 0: Wii for being on one disc.
Resident Evil: director's cut for psx
REmake: Wii for being on one disc.
Resident Evil 2: Dreamcast is the best version (you tell me)
Resident Evil 3: Gamecube (I get a lot of different answers for this one, so it would be nice if someone can explain)
Resident Evil Code Veronica X: Gamecube barely wins for its faster loading time. Is it fast?
Resident Evil 4: Wii version
Resident Evil 4 HD: PS3
Resident Evil Code Veronica X HD: PS3
Resident Evil 5: 360

Re: Best Versions of Resident Evil
I would say the Gamecube version of Resident Evil 3 is better because of the resolution, I can't really tell you since I don't have that version of the game.

Pretty sure it's just the same thing as the DC / PC versions. I wouldn't shell out that money for a copy of the GC version when you can get it much cheaper elsewhere.TheyCallMeTheSwede wrote:I would say the Gamecube version of Resident Evil 3 is better because of the resolution, I can't really tell you since I don't have that version of the game.

Re: Best Versions of Resident Evil
On RE 2, I'd argue for the N64 version due to the additions and the simple fact that it is a marvel they got it to work that well.

It's a technical marvel, but that doesn't make it the best version. Dreamcast is higher resolution, has full screen FMVs, and better framerate.Forlorn Drifter wrote:On RE 2, I'd argue for the N64 version due to the additions and the simple fact that it is a marvel they got it to work that well.
N64's extras do deserve at least an honorable mention though.
I think RE3 is actually better on Dreamcast. If not, the GameCube version is nearly identical iirc.
Re: Best Versions of Resident Evil
Maybe, but the cinematics in CG are a bit pixelated, they compresed the audio, and lacks the mini-game extreme battle. It has some cool extras like change the blood and a randomizer of items (this mode makes the game way to easy for me)Forlorn Drifter wrote:On RE 2, I'd argue for the N64 version due to the additions and the simple fact that it is a marvel they got it to work that well.
Well the game is a masterpiece so i don't care in what console i played, actually i wanna play all the versions on all the consoles
I found this link with the differences on the ports of each:

Isn't the HD version of RE 4 and Code veronica download only in America?

Re: Best Versions of Resident Evil
don't worry, I was lucky to get RE3 for gamecube for around 15 dollars during a moon festival. At that time, they weren't really expensive for some reason. RE2 was around 30 dollars though. There's actually a retro head to head for RE2 and you'll be surprised how PS version does better in many areas than the N64 version aside from having higher polygons for the character models, but a lot of things were sacrificed like the background resolution, 2d special effects, and even cutscenes. In the end, lens of truth chose ps version over N64. This is also the reason why Capcom chose to port RE2 from psx for the gamecube instead of N64 version, but I would've gone with the dreamcast version even if meant sacrificing little things.

Re: Best Versions of Resident Evil
I would beg to differ on RE3.
The Dreamcast port offers 8 Jill costumes (2 are DC exclusives) to choose from as well as the Mercenaries mini-game both available right at the start without having to beat the game first.
The GC port is a straight port of the PS1 game without any of those DC exclusives. However, it does have full 60fps on the FMV scenes and slightly enhanced graphics.

Re: Best Versions of Resident Evil
GQD (the company responsible for those recent Shin Megami Tensei and Fatal Frame reprints) had made reprints Resident Evil 2 and 3 available for a while at $20 a pop. They've since stopped making those reprints and the prices have subsequently creeped back up.JC48573 wrote:At that time, they weren't really expensive for some reason.
Re: Best Versions of Resident Evil
yea, character models were also better on the gamecube, while all other versions suffered from clippings. backgrounds were also redrawn in some areas, which makes it a little hard to compare imo. I like having the 8 different costumes.ExedExes wrote:I would beg to differ on RE3.
