I think I've hit a wall. Doesn't feel like I'm making much progress anymore, let's see... I've done:
1-1, 1-2
2-1
3-1
4-1
Guess that doesn't look like much on paper. I keep doing fairly good against the Flamelurker, or just randomly really bad.
Demon's Souls
Re: Demon's Souls
Don't forget about the co-op. Not sure if you're wanting to do everything yourself, but having another player or two to help can make a big difference, especially with boss battles.
Sometimes that happens with this game though. One sitting you'll accomplish a lot and feel pretty good, next sitting you'll accomplish pretty much nothing. Just keep picking at it.
For Flamelurker, Sticky White Stuff and Enchant Weapon works very well against him. He's weak to magic but since you're doing a melee build, definitely use that stuff if you've got it. Heavy shields are nice too if you're having trouble avoiding his attacks.

Re: Demon's Souls
I've been wanting to find Enchant Weapon for awhile...
Speaking of that, I tried to invade a game and it failed, so I lost that gem for nothing. Nice!...

Re: Demon's Souls
Is your magic stat above 10? If so, you can just buy Enchant Weapon from Freke's Apprentice.
You don't lose the Black Eye Stone after using it.

Re: Demon's Souls
I swear, I didn't see it in my inventory after using it (maybe it's back when I exit the stage?). I'll have to check again.
Honestly I think my magic might be like ... 8. Maybe that's why I've only seen Heal, Antidote, Escape (or something), and I literally think that's it.

Re: Demon's Souls
You can't but magic until your stat is at 10 if I recall plus your intelligence has to be at a certain level for you to remember the spell. Lastly you have to go in to the remember spell menu at the magic guys shop.Xeogred wrote:I swear, I didn't see it in my inventory after using it (maybe it's back when I exit the stage?). If you want a hand pm me I just started a new character the other day and I'm trying to run a full mage build so we could help each other if you are interested.
Re: Demon's Souls
FUCKING FLAMELURKERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
4-2 and 5-1 were pretty easy, the bosses were pathetic. But this freaking Flamelurker! SHIT!!! *breaks controller in half*

Re: Demon's Souls
Those are miracles, which depend on your faith stat. Sorcery is different. If Flamelurker is giving you a rough time you really ought to bump your magic up to 10 and use Enchant Weapon on him, you'll do a lot more damage.Xeogred wrote:Honestly I think my magic might be like ... 8. Wow you thought the Maneaters in 4-2 were pathetic? Don't hear that every day.
Re: Demon's Souls
Aren't the Maneaters on 3-2? (just googled that and it looks like the gargoyle things). I still haven't gotten too far there. The level design scares me.
4-2 was pretty short, just two grim reapers I think and some more skeletons. I'm hearing it's a good place to grind on, and then backtrack through 4-1 so you can sneak up on the black skeletons and everything... is there a specific way to enable those powerful attacks? Where you kind of stab the enemy and you lose control for a second, if that makes sense. Maybe you just have to sneak up on them to trigger it or something, dunno.
But yeah seriously I have no idea how I did decent on the Flamelurker my first try. Now I think it's one of those things, I'm trying so damn hard it's just making it tougher. But my roll isn't very good, I'm pretty slow. Maybe I need a small shield or something... or my stats are messed up. I don't really do a roll, it's like a big flop.

Re: Demon's Souls
Yeah, 4-2 is the blind hero. He's not too bad to kill. The super backstab attacks are precisely that; if you are directly behind a humanoid target and attack you'll do the backstab. The easiest way is to sneak up on them, but if you're fast enough you can do it by circling and rolling around them.
As for your roll, it is based on your equip weight vs. your max equip weight. If it is less than half of your max you get a nice roll. Otherwise you get the floppy roll you currently have. The thing about Demon's Souls is that for the most part armor doesn't provide much protection. There are certain cloth armors which provide very good resistance against things like fire or poison, but resistance against melee attacks is never that good, even with the toughest armor in the game. So you're better off wearing cloth with resists and rely on your shield and rolling to handle enemy attacks.
