Neutopia vs. Neutopia II

Post by BurningDoom »

I just downloaded Neutopia on Wii Virtual Console, and I'm enjoying it a lot. The story may be as generic as it gets, but the gameplay is great and manages to capture the feel of an old Zelda game quite well.

I was wondering how Neutopia II holds up compared to the 1st game. Is it better? Did it take a turn for the worse? Or is it about the same (which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing)?

Why? Better graphics? Better design? Better story?

Thanks. :)

Sadly I haven't gotten to either one of them yet and they languish on my "I'll get to those eventually" pile. I think it is pretty much more of the same. Info and a video review here.

I really liked part 1. I've heard that the sequel improves on it in every way, but haven't had a chance to try it myself. Another game on my "I should buy it" list.

The sequel is indeed better, though very similar. It really is an incremental upgrade. If you liked the first game you'll definitely like the second game, because it feels like more of the same, just more polished around the edges. Neutopia II is one of the few 6 mibit cartridges.

First thing you'll notice with the second one is 8 way moving and sprites. Decent graphical upgrade amongst other things.

If you had any fun in the first one, it's worth getting the second.
