What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Yeah it's completely unnecessary. Imagine if they didn't get Vangelis back...
Sounds like it's really happening though:

I mean, that opening scene (described more in the first post) sounds pretty cool. CGI has come a long way over the years, doesn't look "too" tacky anymore. But still, modern sci-fi like Prometheus even and whatnot is way too clean for my liking. It just wouldn't be the same. Blade Runner has some of the best characters and performances ever and it tells such a complete and perfectly open story that needs nothing more to it.

Did a movie like ALIEN really need a prequel?AppleQueso wrote:Does a movie like Blade Runner really need a sequel?
Anyone else watch WORDPLAY?
It's a documentary about the NY Times crossword puzzle, and the people/celebrities who play them. There are cross word competitions, a look behind the scenes of creating the puzzles, and enough wit to entertain people who don't even play the daily puzzle (like me).
Fun movie that's worth a watch, and also shows a different side of celebrities.

There's going to be a Blade Runner 2?Luke wrote:The fact this thread hasn't turned into a "Holy Fuck! BLADERUUNER2!!!!?" discussion is nuts.
Uuuugh, I haven't even seen the first one and I don't like where this is going. No, thanks.
Anyways, I saw MAD MAX today and it's awesome. It's like someone said, hey, I have this cool revenge story but it's kind of boring, let's take these scissors and cut everything that is not neccesary or explains what we already know. Wops, I cut a little bit there but guess what? It's even more awesome now.
Really, there's absolutedly no bullshit in this movie. It's 100% content. No explanations, no need to "prove" the world is post-apocalyptic, no need to say HUR DURR, THAT'S WRONG MAX, YOU ARE BECOMING THE TITLE DROP because if you need to explain the joke, you kill it and you like jokes and the whole movie is a pure joke, which is great.
Awesome stuff.
Now, we will be watching the second one soon and I wonder, do you need to see the first one before watching the second?

Mad Max has one of my favorite film endings ever. I have no idea what you were saying in your write-up, though.
Nope. Skip the third unless you're making a drinking game/MST3K out of it.General_Norris wrote: Now, we will be watching the second one soon and I wonder, do you need to see the first one before watching the second?

It doesn't NEED one. But haven't you ever wondered where the Xenomorphs came from? I always have. Not that it has anything to do with Prometheus one way or the other, I couldn't say because I haven't seen it yet.Luke wrote:Did a movie like ALIEN really need a prequel?AppleQueso wrote:Does a movie like Blade Runner really need a sequel?

Mad Max is my favorite Australian movie. Cheesy, but so cool and fun.sabrage wrote:Mad Max has one of my favorite film endings ever. I have no idea what you were saying in your write-up, though.Nope. The second one is good too, but I can tell it had a higher budget and it feels more like a standard Hollywood movie than the indie-ish original. Don't bother with 3, it's disappointing.

Mad Max= Carsploitation= Awesomesauce
Watched Tangled. Cute little movie, but methinks it isn't as good as older Pixar/Disney movies. The whole thing managed to get a couple of decent laughs out of me, but I was aggrivated by it reminding me of a certain girl... *cough* anyways, decent movie.

Saw Thor
It was okay, I'd probably rate it a 6 or 7. The story is lacking, but the special effects were pretty phenomenal and the action sequences weren't bad. The movie moves along a bit too fast, so the story never has any real drama or emotion and is fairly predictable.
