Have you ever felt bad for beating a game?
Re: Have you ever felt bad for beating a game?
I guess Seiken Densetsu 3 kind of fits for me. "Damn this series nosedived after this one."

I would say this about Bastion. Games seldom make me wonder whether I made the right choice or not at the end, which is what made the ending to Bastion so memorable.

Oh. My. Days. I remember Bottom on video and hating the fact they only did three series. Each one of them was just, perfect. Slapstick, innuendos, clever wordplay, it had the lot.Menegrothx wrote:I cant recall the last time something like that happened, but I do get it from TV shows every now and then - departure from characters I've grown to love and some times the feeling "there will never be another season of Bottom" could be applied to video games.
As for games, I agree with Shenmue 2 (obviously) but I feel particularly bad about completing a game I've put hours into and not being able to go back into that game world with my maxed out character, as in Baldurs Gate on the PS2 I seem to recall. This is partly why Resident Evil 4 is one of if not my favourite game ever (although the Chicago Typewriter is TOO powerful).

Well if you finish the main game, Arkham City was quiet a downer.

It was. I'm not sure they'll make a sequel, since Mark Hamill says he's done voicing the Joker.TheyCallMeTheSwede wrote:Well if you finish the main game, Arkham City was quiet a downer.

No, I'm just saying they seem like the sort of game that's destined from the start to be a one-off. If I realize that from the start, it doesn't upset me much that there's no sequel.WallCrusher wrote:...You saying that those games don't deserve sequels?BoringSupreez wrote:I don't feel bad about beating a game that is obviously a one-off. Perhaps I should say it's less than getting sequels and more that we'll have to wait another 5-10 years until Game Freak decides to work on a non-Pokémon title.
Now, let me mention a game that truly makes me feel bad for beating: Mega Man Legends 2. Even more salt on the wounds considering we almost had Legends 3.

I felt bad for beating MUSHA.
I had just spent 3 months looking for a copy, dropped $100 on it, and then beat it in a day. Without much scoring, there was pretty much no reason to ever play the game again.

Beating Guitar Hero's hardest songs with no practise, involvement or barely any understanding of the patterns was pretty sad since it confirmed it wasn't really look playing compared to other superior musical games.
I also felt bad for seeing the ending video of Railroad Tycoon 3 before passing one of the maps. It seems you see it and go to the ending screen as soon as you beat the final stage, but you can pick stages in any order!
