Can I chip this Saturn...?

Post by Ryu »

Hi all pirates

Im planning to buy me a Saturn and chip it. Which Saturn should I look after?

Ive been watching some auctions on e-bay(fantastic prices in the states) and my eye catched this http://cgi.ebay.com/Sega-Saturn-System-2-Controllers-Demo-Virtua-Cop_W0QQitemZ230018408684QQihZ013QQcategoryZ62054QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Should I go for it?

Best Regards

It's possible to chip that, but it's going to be a pain.

There is no way of telling if a Saturn can be chipped just by looking at it, you have to open it up, try a saturn with round buttons, you'll have a better chance

Either way... that version isn't designated by 64pin or 32 pin. That is the model 1 Saturn. It requires cutting and resoldering traces on the modchip itself. I'd advice not going this route unless you are very handy with a soldering iron.

I also agree, you can Saturn's for cheaper.

Those 64pin saturns are nice units, but any one looking for an easy route to playing backups should buy them selfs a version 2 saturn with the round buttons, so that they can just install the mod-chip with less hassel hopefully.

Any one got the information saved from SegaXtreme.net regarding seals diagrams on the version 1 saturn mod-chip modifications, as i think the website has gone down, and im not sure if i have them saved.
