so I need an HDD for my Slim in order to run oXbox games on it. I've heard you can somehow take the older (cheaper) fat model HDD's out of their enclosure and use them in a Slim. Questions:
1. Has anyone done this?
2. It works for running original Xbox games?
3. How easy is it to do this?

Re: Questions about 360 Slim HDD
I didn't even know you could do that with that fat HDD (take em apart and use em on the slim models), well it sounds like a chore. And yes you will need it to play Oxbox discs on your 360. Keep in mind though that the compatability rate with the oxbox catalog of games is small and you will occasionally experience graphical and performance issues.

Yes, I've read all about this.CD AGES wrote:Keep in mind though that the compatability rate with the oxbox catalog of games is small and you will occasionally experience graphical and performance issues.
I've got my 360, PS3, PS2 and DC all hooked up to my monitor. I have no more room for consoles. I'm perfectly content for now with getting whatever extra Xbox titles to look into through the 360.
So if anyone has experience with this HDD trick, please let me know. Thanks.
Re: Questions about 360 Slim HDD
I've done it and its not hard at all. The toughest part is getting into the hard drive enclosure on the old drive. Once you have it out you just plug it into the slim. Since it is not in a slim enclosure there is some space around the drive...it kind of just hangs ther, but if you don't move your system it shouldn't be an issue. I've been running this way for 6 months with no issues.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

Ninja Gaiden Black worked great for me on my 360, for what it's worth.

I thought you got rid of the DC? It's hard to keep track...noiseredux wrote:Yes, I've read all about this.CD AGES wrote:Keep in mind though that the compatability rate with the oxbox catalog of games is small and you will occasionally experience graphical and performance issues.

THPS3 also works perfectly on 360. Better than before, in fact.sabrage wrote:Ninja Gaiden Black worked great for me on my 360, for what it's worth.
Noise: this list will prove invaluable if you plan to play oXbox games on 360. Not only does it say if the game will work, it tells you what types of glitches (if any) to expect.

@Stark: did you find a good guide with pics or anything to help you through it? What size drive did you use? And you can confirm it's worked with oXbox games?
@Boring: Yeah that list is great. I've been consulting it a lot lately just researching games I may have missed out on.

Breakdown is deceptively good. It has a lock-on system, so even if you don't like first-person games you may like it if you got on with Metroid Prime. It's also extremely cheap.noiseredux wrote:games I may have missed out on.

I don't know what you'll be looking for size wise Noise, but I have an old spare 20 gb drive laying around that I don't need. Its still in its old fat style casing (I replaced it long ago and never had need to open it up) but if you want it, give me a holler.
