Nintendo takes legal action against Flash Cards

Post by SpaceBooger »

While details are scarce, we can imagine a lot of popular carts (like the R4), if not all carts, will be affected. Should Nintendo and friends win the suit, selling and importing such carts will be illegal, meaning that people would have to resort to the black market to get their hands on one.

Interesting, Nintendo should know the black market always wins... well the government doesn't so maybe the big N doesn't either.

There are plenty of other Japanese developers backing them so I think that they'll win.

Just glad i've already got mine.

It makes me laugh how they're just targeting R4, purely because it's the most popular one. At the end of the day, just get a cyclo or whatever if R4 goes under.

I don't care because I already have mine. They can't take mine away from me :P

Yeah it's a no-brainer that R4's are used for commercial roms, but come on, does Nintendo really need to make this a priority right now?

Companies have the right to battle piracy, but Nintendo is still having absurd record profits. I'm quite sure all those other companies are banking on DS software too. Anyone else notice how piracy becomes an "issue" when companies are making tons of money at the time?

Anyway, they won't win. They'll take down one flash cart and ten more will take it's place.

If you think they won't win this, you haven't been paying attention. The US government is wholly in the pockets of the content cartels.

I have concern over DS flash carts, however if they would point out which GBA flash carts work with gameboy player I would be much obliged. I mean I have four players and have been told that the only one I know that I can buy, supercards, dont work.

I have a Supercard SD, I bought it about a month ago. It works fine with my Gamecube player as well as my GBA SP2 and DS.
