I'm wondering what I should do about my yellow SNES. I don't really want to bleach the thing, mostly because the suggestions I saw for how to do it instruct it to be placed outside in the sunlight for at least a day, and, well, I'm in NYC. I did think about buying a broken Super Famicom and replacing the shell, but broken SFCs are hard to come by for cheap. There's also this thread, but right now production is only for minis, and mine's a model 1. I may wait until I found out how much it would cost to get one when they decide to do a shell for model 1s. Also, ridiculous paint jobs (although not all paint jobs are ridiculous) are out of the question. No painted pot leaves nor any Donkey Kong Country stickers (even as a kid I knew that stickers on my consoles was dumb).
With all that in mind, suggestions?
Yellowed SNES: Ideas for Spiffiness
Re: Yellowed SNES: Ideas for Spiffiness
I think your best option is just using Retr0bright (http://retr0bright.wikispaces.com/) and using a UV lamp instead of sunlight.
If you'd rather paint it, I bet a good cleaning and a can of Krylon X-Metal could get a good result. I've used it on my Game Boy and love the aesthetic. http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/161/p ... ring-text/ Hopefully it's not too ridiculous?
They're probably equally inconvenient, but they might work for you.

Yeah, I saw the retrobright thing, but I didn't think of using a UV light.
The Krylon paint is definitely not ridiculous (I was thinking this or this, although neither are as bad as some other paint jobs I've seen; and of course, that's also just my opinions, others are free to differ), although I'm not quite sure what color I would paint it if I were to paint it at all. What looks best on an SNES?
