Deterrence theory was created before religious terrorism was really a thing but it incorporates it pretty well. To be a credible nuclear threat, there is a lot of power, money, and infrastructure to be had. Usually, in the course of having that, a person gets used to being in charge. Once a person gets power, they tend to look to their own self preservation and avoid doing things that would invite certain destruction for their state.

When was the last time that a wealthy person volunteered for a zeal based suicide mission? Rich folk tend to send the poor to die - and the poor tend not to have nuclear weapons. We're good.

And I wont' judge others for liking classical women, but since my female ancestors survived 3 wars, ethnic cleansing, escaping rape at the last minute, bombing runs, famine, poverty, civil war, without men by their side and children to care of, having a woman who depends on me seems like a downgrade to me.
