Why does the US get ripped on so much?
I know we're not the smartest country in the world, nor are we the best when it comes to any war related things. However, why are we so hated?
We're not nearly as dumb as we're made out to be, and I know more out of country racists on a personal level than I do here. I can find most countries on a map, although I admit South Asia, Africa, and certain areas of Eastern Europe I'm quite iffy on. I hate McDonalds, and I am not fat. I'm not a backwoods imbred redneck, I don't have a huge jacked up truck, and I don't drink Pabst Blue Ribbon.
But everybody else in the world, besides though that know me personally, think I do. I doubt anybody here on Racketboy has any of these prejudices, but come on!
Also, I'd like to point out he odd double standard I see. This doesn't apply to some, but I've met many people that are disgusted to hear that I'm from the US, but get extremely interested when I say I'm from Texas. I don't get that.

It isn't worth getting worked up over. There's plenty of reasons to "hate" any country/people for those looking to do so, and the U.S. is no exception.Forlorn Drifter wrote:dsheinem wrote:Forlorn Drifter wrote:I know we're not the smartest country in the world, nor are we the best when it comes to any war related things. You just gotta have a sense of humor about that stuff. One of my favorite moments in this past season of Doctor Who
Doctor Who - "I just teleported in here in a big blue box and overheard your whole conversation without either of you noticing; you can't just shoot me!"
River Song - "They're American!"
Doctor Who - "Oh my God, don't shoot!"

Imperialism, war crimes, providing financial/military support for authoritarian and fascist regimes, drones, etc...
Most people who "hate America" are disgusted by the actions of its leaders. It has nothing to do with the citizenry.

Re: Why does the US get ripped on so much?
Its just aggrivating. Also a bit of the hypocrisy that comes with it.
Brittian: "Oh, the US is bad! They like to make war, and their government is horrible, they have poor healthcare, their in countries that they shouldn't be!!"
Right, making war. Not like they have EVER done that. Poor government? Ehh, arguable. How long did they have a monarchy, with bastard children and the occasional imbred? Poor healthcare? Still arguable. That could really go either way there, but I personally prefer paying a bit if it means I can get into the doctor without a problem, and without having to wait on the guy who went to the ER because he has the runs, while I have a bullet in my leg. (Old story from a friend in the UK.) In countries they shouldn't be? India and MANY other countries would like to say hi.
I could go on, but I'm just going to start problems. Might already have.
