When you swallow your gum, it stays in your stomach for 7 years.

Oh wait, you mean video games? :)

I remember a rumor of Life Force on the NES in which you play two players and have both ships fully powered up in everything, they'll transform into robots and merge. I think this was from somebody probably confused this game with Side Arms or something. My friend and I tried this, but it never happened, of course.

Ha, my grandma believes that one. Except she says 11 years. What a bunch of nonsense, I've seen gum in my crap before I was 11. And with all the gum I've swallowed over the years, my stomach would have no room left in it anymore.

...anyway, that's enough of my rabbit trail.

One kid tried to tell me that he was playing SSB on N64 as Capt. Falcon and rather than the standard dialogue for one particular Falcon Punch, the captain exclaimed, "FUUUCK YOOOU!!"

I hated that kid, even then I knew he was a liar. I can't believe I still remember that.

awesome:D
it seems mortal kombat dominating this thread and for good reason.
mk2 is my alltime favorite and have a very large amount of textfiles floating around the internet and BBSs (!) at that time stating much heavier thing than nudalities. in fact there are animalities listed in the moves lists. there are two theories. the most common is developers "listened" to these fantasies and then built stuffs into the next installment but the other is developers started to spread these rumors via those files.
if you guys think these would be an interesting read and possibly some research im happy to open a dedicated topic and post all those archives.

I remember a lot of crazy rumors circulating about Night Trap. Basically that it was way more badass than it really is. Something like you are the dad of the family and ninja robbers are holding your family hostage so you gotta grab the shotgun in the bedroom and then he says "Let's get these motherfuckers"

I've been laughing ever since I read this yesterday. That's what I'm talking about! I envy you. To be a wee tot in an era when everybody thought Sega's baditude knew no limits!

That's what developers need to do. Get a couple of really full of shit, big mouth pre-teens, lock them in a room with one of those one-way mirrors, listen carefully, and then put their ideas into a game :D No rape though. Let's say he cuts the wife's head off.

I fell for the Mike Tyson legend with King Hippo. I even remember that when Mario counted to "9" I could have sworn that I saw some pixels move like he was getting up.

Also fell for the Triforce in Zelda 64. It always had something to do with getting a fish and throwing it in the moat/lake outside of the castle courtyard. Was suppose to pull a switch or something.

In Mortal Kombat, there was a hidden option at the beginning of the game (rather than the "start" or "options") that would allow you to play as Reptile and Goro.

Street Fighter 2 -- there was a Pro Action Replay code that would make Guile melt into ooze. I remember reading this somewhere, but turned out to be a hoax.

Mortal Kombat 2 -- You could knock someone into the trees in the Living Forest as a level Fatality.

I had a friend tell me a story that mortal kombat was as real as a game could get and I thought it was true. Yet this was 1991 and I was 14. Hell everyone I knew thought the same thing at the time. We also thought that the snes, genesis and tg-16 would be the last systems to come out in this world. Who knew?

I also just remembered that if you beat the game with every character in wwf wrestlemania the arcade game onn wwf championship mode you can unlock adam bomb as a character and unlock undertaker's fatality like the arcade.

The other thing was reading in sega visions magazine seeing a system calles neptune? a genesis/32x together as 1 was comming out and that the 32x would upgrade all your genesis games for better graphics

Stick a coin on your SNES Mortal Kombat cartridge.

The coin would demagnetize part of the cartridge which would unlock blood in the game.

Never believed it, but I heard that one many times...

I never believed them but probably the "See Samus totally naked" in every game she appeared in including Super Smash Brothers where I was told if you pause the screen at the right time when she's being electrocuted you see her naked.

Also the Ashura the Hedgehog thing. That one I actually believed. http://sonic.wikia.com/wiki/Ashura

While he's a real glitch the made up back-stories and the lies about him being intentional were not.
