I think you're about halfway through the first disc. The second disc is much shorter than the first, though.Nemoide wrote:I'm about 36 hours into Dragon Warrior VII... I'm pretty sure I'm over halfway through the first disc!
What RPG are you playing right now?

Im just starting on Xenoblade Chronicles And i must say Im enjoying this game alot. At first it took me a few to get used to the battle system and such but once i got it down this game is a blast and I would dare say as of so far on my top ten list I just hope the story and everything else follows up

One thing that always turned me away from Dragon Warrior VII was how stupidly long the game is.

Beat Ys Origin on Hugo's path. Next up: The Claw.
VII is notoriously slow-paced.
Maybe... if you're rushing through it.Nemoide wrote:I'm about 36 hours into Dragon Warrior VII... I'm pretty sure I'm over halfway through the first disc!
Oh, but it's a very rewarding game! Definitely in my top three favorite Dragon Quest games, although I'm not certain if I'd replay it any time soon (though the thought has crossed my mind as of late).BoneSnapDeez wrote:One thing that always turned me away from Dragon Warrior VII was how stupidly long the game is.

I'm normally turned off by long games but I'm really glad Dragon Warrior VII is as long as it is. I can't explain why but even the "collect a huge number of item-fragments"-quest aspect is still totally fun.

I'm not normally a big fan of that kind of thing either, but I did like seeing the world slowly come back, as one island at a time. It's like this big, elaborate jigsaw puzzle as the islands slowly turn into continents and the like.

What's a good entry point for the Dragon Warrior series? It has such a lofty reputation. I understand it's bigger, or at least, as big as Final Fantasy in Japan. Yet I've never played a single one.

The original games have ports on the GBC that are pretty good. They rebalance the game by increasing gold and exp rewards so you don't have to grind nearly as much. I believe also you can actually fight stuff in DQ1's final dungeon, instead of just running from everything (you'd fail the last boss due to the massive attrition). 4-6 have excellent ports on the DS and I'd say when you get to them to play the DS versions. With DQ I'd recommend you start with 1 and move forward from there, just make sure you play the GBC port. Each game tends to build on the previous with regards to the gameplay system.

Do you have a DS? I'd start with IV.Gamerforlife wrote:What's a good entry point for the Dragon Warrior series? It has such a lofty reputation. I understand it's bigger, or at least, as big as Final Fantasy in Japan. Yet I've never played a single one.
