What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

^ I enjoyed it :)

That's all I ask of it...
Yes. Yes it is.

At the very least it's certainly a hell of a lot better than Resurrection.

So I caved. Yeah next time you have a demonstration, call me. I stick to my guns - hard.

Anyway, first of all, don't go see it in 3D. The 3D in this film is wasted. I've heard that it was 'as good or better than Avatar.' If you meant Avatar the Last Airbender's 3D, then yes. If you mean better than Cameron's Avatar - lulz. No. The 3D in Prometheus was a total waste of time.

As for the film, it was sort of like Alien Lite. I enjoyed it, I liked what they did with the origin, but yes there are a few plot holes and questions unanswered. But still, it was entertaining.

Now, for the spoiler talk.
I don't think we're to assume that the Xeno-like alien that was born at the end is the Xeno from the Aliens movies. The Xenomorphs were discovered on LV-426, this was LV-233. Granted there were other ships on 233, and I suppose another Engineer/Spacejockey that woke up and took another ship and happened to crash on LV-426. But if we take the first Alien Vs Predator movie as 'existing' then it doesn't make sense because the Predators brought Xenos to earth to hunt. AVP predates Prometheus. So maybe Scott doesn't consider Aliens/3/etc as part of his story?

@indecks: I want to imagine Scott doesn't give a crap about anything post-Alien, haha... but who knows. It would be interesting to see what he considers canon and not in his mind.

Yeah. I consider Aliens to be Cameron's best work BY FAR, still has its nuisances though like the kid and silly junk like that. Thank goodness it doesn't have any of his awful romances.

I still have a soft spot for T1 as well though. And I'll admit T2 is fun. So these three are his best in my book. If he just sticks to action it's good stuff. Other than that I guess he just has a lot of money to keep going or something... nothing that special about him.

Dude I put the AvP's above Resurrection. That one is seriously one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

Oh I agree. I was just using it as an easy Alien-movie-related quality reference.

My personal preference is in this order:

Alien/Aliens (Depends on my mood) > Alien 3 > AvP > AvP 2 > With Resurrection falling into the gaping mouth of a giant Xenomorph Queen

The Avengers:

Took my 3 oldest (9, 6, and 4). Thought it was excellent. A bit nervous about the run-time w/the 4yo, but after he recovered from the scary Batman previews, he was a champin.

Really impressed, as usual, w/Mark Ruffalo.

Too bored to research who played "Loki", but he was excellent as well. Very pleased and excited for the prospects of this franchise.

Tom Hiddleston. You may be happy to know he will reprise his role of Loki in Thor 2!

I'm waiting for someone to Garfield without Garfield Edward Furlong out of T2 so I can ever watch it again.

Watched Avengers. Great, as everybody has said.

Now watching a whole bunch of Edward Furlong crappy horror movies. I just watched a Night of the Demons remake from 2009, which I actually found quite good. It had a great soundtrack.

Currently watching El Intermedio, which might just be crap. Not sure yet.

Prometheus quick thoughts with a very minor spoiler...

I just got home from seeing it. I thought it was actually quite good...up until around the scene with the guy who shows up outside the ship as some kind of super-zombie...which was also just before a lot of really clunky and quick storytelling (and VERY bad dialogue). The last half hour is great visually but pretty bad in terms of pacing and plot. Being a Scott sci-fi film, I feel like there's probably another hour of character development and story left on the cutting room floor in service to the two hour run time, and I am curious to see if there's a better director's cut which would fix the biggest problems. In any case, it was probably the best Alien-related film since 1986, so that's something.
