When it comes to sex in games, which I believe needs to be mentioned, I don't have a problem if it is tasteful or implied rather than shown. The Fable style is a decent way of doing it, but sometimes the screams during the black screen are way too out there. God of War, from what I've seen, is alright, but I find it slightly wrong they made it into a minigame. Finally, in something like Witcher 2, its okay. I think they could do it somewhat more cleanly, without making it softcore porn. Witcher 1 style was good, censored or otherwise.

Right, so, anybody know when Nintendo is having that other conference?
I'm sorry but what is your problem with sex (something natural and nice that everybody does) if you are alright with violence (something that modern western civilization spends a lot of time preaching against)?

Short answer is that people in the US have REALLY screwed up priorities.

The threshold to get the average person to be violent is high.
The threshold to get the avaerage person to be sexual is low.
If we are influenced by media to behave in risky ways, we are more likely to be influenced into engaging in risky sexual behavior than we are violent behavior; therefore, people are more concerned about sex in media more than violence, even though the consequences of violence are higher.

Or at least that's what I tell myself is the reason so that I don't have to believe people I know have REALLY screwed up priorities.

What is exactly risky sexual behavior? The only "risky" sexual behavior I can think of is rape, which is imo more a product of violent feelings.

EDIT

I know this isn't your opinion per say, but it really boggles my mind why after 5000 years of civilization we can't accept that we are still monkeys and enjoy reproducing like bunnies)

Actually I have (lived there for 2 years). My favorite American stereotype story was when a half Greek friend of my family visited Greece with her family, and her (20 year old at the time) daughter entered the sea, and came out running yelling "It has fish inside, it has fish inside"

(and no, not sharks, small fish xD)

But yeah I really don't understand why you have such big problems with teaching contraception (no I don't think all Americans are stupid, I KNOW better than that)
