Re: Together Retro: Command & Conquer

I beat mission 8 (the fixer upper one) and am on mission 9. The new base defence of NODs is causing me to go a little nuts, but the mission was going OK. At least until my two harvesters both decided the best way to return to my base was to take a shot cut through the center of NOD's. Cue lasers of doom, and suddenly I have no more money.

Any tips for this mission?

I'm surprised you didn't crack their base completely by the time your harvesters had to go to the Nod patch. The Nod base is pretty flawed in its construction.

I'll admit I found the east entrance a while before I stumbled across the west. I assume thats what you meant? Still seems like that obelisk could be problematic though, it has enormous range and just eats my tanks for dinner.

Hint: there are certain structures that don't function if the base is under-powered. These include the radar, the obelisk, and the super weapons.

That's why you put a force of infantry might to distract that laser while your APCs get to work capturing important buildings (and maybe a power plant or two along the way)

Oh, I got that, I just stupidly didnt find the west entrance til really late on, so I didn't get to see if there were some convenient power plants to capture there or not. I guess I need the construction site too, to make sure that they dont rebuild them. I'll give it another go later.

When I get a bit of cash, I might grab the N64 version for shits and giggles. It would also help expand that library, which consists of a very large one game.

I completed the Find Delphi mission with little trouble. Minimal structure building and about 10-15 medium tanks to storm their base with. You do NOT have to destroy the base for mission completion, just have to get to the end of the base, shoot the wall at the end and get through so the Chinook can pick him up.

Increasing game speed helps a lot too

Are me and Exedexes the only ones still playing this? I beat Mission 9 tonight after a few days away, pretty easily too. I just ran an APC full of engineers in the back way (after distracting the enemy with some jeeps) and unloaded, capturing the airbase, construction site and 3 power plants. No more laser, and I managed to pump out a few flame tanks and artillerys to mop up their refinery and hand of nod before the turrets destroyed my airbase. Then I sent in the tanks to mop up the last 2 turrets and the leftover SAM sites and voila.

I love how the mission briefing mentions the gunships, but the damn things dont shoot at anything when they come past ¬_¬

Anyway, I started chapter 10 and screwed up immediately when I didnt notice some artilleries shooting my construction site from the ridge behind where you start. Next time I'll move along a bit to stay out of their way, until I can get some forces set up to take them down.

I'll try to get some done Friday. It turns out work takes a good portion of my game time away and there are so many games I want to play. Surprising right? :(
