There's a lot of things I'm absolutely loving about FF XIII-2, but the story is kind of boring, and a bit convoluted. There's so much time travel mumbo jumbo that you just give up on any of it making any sense after a while. The characters are fine, the voice acting is mostly fine (except for Mog, who I want to throw in a pot of boiling acid), but the plot just isn't grabbing me at all. Every stage is Noel and Serah discovering a bunch of crazy time travel crap that they have to fix, followed by Serah going on and on about how she misses her sister, Noel talking about how effed up his future is, followed by lots cliches like never give up hope, or how we are defined by our pasts, and other such nonsense. Then you get to the next stage, rinse and repeat. Same old, same old. Ugh, I honestly just don't give a crap about any of it.

SquareEnix cannot tell a good story to save it's life these days. That's one area where Xenoblade completely and totally kicks this game's ass. I miss Valkyria Chronicles and Jeanne D'arc, two japanese rpgs with really good stories compared to this.

The japanese version of his voice is considered endearing over there. The cute mascot character is something the Japanese have embraced but we seem unable to do well (Teddy from P4 has come the closest). Lymlye was another character who's voice was absolutely butchered in localization because we don't know how to do that character type well.

It's kind of a shame. There's nothing inherently obnoxious about Mog....it's just that voice. Ugh

I really hate this goddamn game right now. I'm in this stupid, f****ing stage called Augusta Tower, which is like fifty floors of you solving the same, goddamn puzzle over and over and over and over and over and over again, while constantly being interrupted by incessant random battles that you can't avoid, all the while being told some stupid, cliche story about a rogue AI attacking humans ripped right out of the Terminator movies

This is the most boring section of the whole goddamn game!

Tedious, repetitive bullshit. Japanese game design at its finest!

It's like... four floors, and another four floors in another timeline (the two timelines have completely independent map areas). Also, every AI goes rogue and attacks humans; it's a pretty old sci-fi trope.

It's WORSE than Snarf, IMO.

^This clip^ proves that his voice can be funny... sometimes.

It's hard to believe, but FF XIII-2's story is WORSE than FF XIII's. God, it's a big convoluted mess of sci fi mumbo jumbo and the whole story has no heart and soul. At no point do you find yourself giving a crap about anything that's going on or giving a shit about any of the characters in the game. I honestly feel a strong temptation to just skip every cut scene because NOTHING interesting EVER happens in them.

Sigh, FF games are all about the gameplay now. It's the only reason to check out FF XIII-2, well there's also the amazing graphics, and the soundtrack is pretty good. Story is awful though, 0 out of 10 I give it. Seriously, it's complete and utter garbage. It's amazing to think that this game is part of the same franchise that spawned FF VI (III here in the US). Amazing how far the storytelling has gone down. It's really shocking.

Why don't you tell us how you really feel lmao

Yes the random battles can be a bit annoying but really i did not mind this part of the game. I also love puzzles and tend to progress very well

Well, I guess it's the exact same thing as with the last direct sequel (FF X had a crappy story and X-2 just....killed it xD)

At least XIII-2 has good gameplay to back it up. X-2 was worse than Mystic Que- actually, no, nothing Square makes can ever be worse than Mystic Quest, I take it back.
