MGS vs. TTS

Post by lakai404 »

Has this been beat to death yet?

Regardless.

From what I understand TTS is just more sensational and cinematic.
While The Ps1 MGS is the original, and therefore more legit.

Any opinions on one or the other?

MGS has better gameplay.

TTS added all of MGS2's moves and upgraded the enemy A.I., but barely changed the stage layouts and didn't change boss patterns at all. This makes huge parts of the game far, far easier than they're supposed to be.

The cut-scenes are a bit over-the-top too, but that doesn't really bug me quite as much as a lot of people.

I've beaten both several times. Taken on its own, TTS is still a very solid game.

Metal Gear Solid vs Table Top Sports? :?: :?:
Seriously, why not take the extra few seconds and type out the name?

Forgive the seemingly random-poster-who'll-probably-never-show-up-again. Fun tidbit: The Twin Snakes was directed by the same Japanese director responsible for the over-the-top film, Versus.

Acronyms do not impress me, just courtesy to type it out. I honestly did not know what the TTS means. If the OP is I guess meaning a comparison of Gamecube Twin Snakes to the original then here is my observation.

PS1 Metal Gear Solid
Advantage - Original voices with accents. Playstation controller.
Disadvantage - Lower resolution.

PS1 Metal Gear Solid Bleemed on Dreamcast
Advantage - Same great game kicked up resolution.
Disadvantage - Less buttons, workable but not as good a PS1 controller.

PC Metal Gear Solid
Advantage - Same great accents, higher resolution and First Person View movement.
Disadvantage - Controls, but can be circumvented with adapters.

Gamecube Metal gear Twin Snakes
Advantage - 480p and faster loads.
Disadvantage - In a state of political correctness, lost the voice accents.

MGS has more realistic cutscenes, but far uglier graphics and no first-person shooting, making it far more difficult. I believe there was a special edition in Japan that added FPS, but we never got it.

TTS has much smoother graphics (MGS2 engine to be precise), along with FPS and everything else MGS2 added. Because of this, the difficulty takes a nosedive. The cutscenes are also over-the-top. It's my favorite version anyway though, just because it looks so much better than the original and I hate not being able to FPS.

Yes, but you do not get full use of every button. You lose the Select, Right Analog and two of the Trigger Buttons. Bleem actually does a good job, just have to learn the button combos of the Triggers with the DPad. A shame the BleemPod never came to be, maybe some of the Bleem commercial or beta discs have it coded in?
