I was thinking about getting some of those classics remakes of asteroids, galaga, space invaders and other for the ps1. I have credit at my local game store and they have asteroids and space invaders. Has anyone played any of these games? How are they? Is there a list for me to know what "retro" remakes are out there?
Thanks very much
questions on some classic remakes for ps1
Re: questions on some classic remakes for ps1
I played the Centipede and Galaga remakes. Neither of them are good, although they're not insufferable. Don't pay more than a few dollars max for them.
Re: questions on some classic remakes for ps1
Are these the Hasbro remakes? Most were meh, I do like Asteroids though. If you see Galaxian 3 in the pile snag it. A crappy game but an interesting footnote in history. Its based on the mini theater sized arcade.
I would hit the Arcade compilations, the PS1 versions has a wide range of settings options not found on later releases. DIP Switches and even programing player 2 stick to operate player one as a co-op or duel stick game.

Yeah they were the ones i'm talking about. I know ps1 has plenty of the actual classics but I saw the back to asteroids and i thought it was a new look to the game and hopefully it has the classic feel still to the game.CRTGAMER wrote:Are these the Hasbro remakes? I found this so far,
asteroids
frogger
missle command
galaga
space invaders
pong
centipede
q bert
tempest x? not sure about this one
Re: questions on some classic remakes for ps1
I liked Asteroids, Frogger and Space Invaders a lot as a kid. Frogger is probably the best of the bunch.

Frogger's the only one I tried; it's definitely good, but only pay single digits for it.
Re: questions on some classic remakes for ps1
I can't imagine any of them are particularly rare or sought-after. Maybe Tempest 2000 and Xevious 3D.

The gameplay and music is killer, be sure to have the TV hooked up to an external amp and speakers.

I had a panic attack. Try to hunt for Tempest X, a remake done very well. Since it is a Pre-Duel Shock game, an Arcade stick works beautiful!mas wrote:LMAOCRTGAMER wrote:GOOD GOD! Leave now and get it!mas wrote:tempest x? not sure about this one

There is the PC Freeware Typhoon 2001 to give you a taste.
