Re: Best place to get a MVS to AES Convertor?
I can't imagine the cost to not only have a supergun, but dedicated consoles for MVS, PGM, CPS2, etc. You could buy the new Dodonpachi instead!
I can see the appeal of consolized motherboards, but I like the arcade-y feel of Mobos and JAMMA harnesses and all that good stuff. I think I'd prefer a nice supergun, along with mobos for MVS, CPS2, PGM... and an extra $1000 to play with.
Then again, I'm a poor mofo

I'm keeping my Japanese AES because I enjoy playing Japanese fighting games on it (I import AES games, I don't have any American ones).
I assume the MVS converters that sit on top of the AES are region free...?
And wow some of these MVS games are cheap... I'm finding $15 listings on ebay.

All neogeo games will run in the language of the bios regardless of region. The unibios in the cmvs units from analogue interactive can be set in either language and in arcade or home console mode!

$15 on ebay means $8-10 in the real world.

Damn that's cool.
Do AES controllers/arcade sticks work with that wood CMVS?

But the stock NG sticks are crap.
You'd want the analogue interactive sticks, or something else modded for 15pin.
The 15pin connector is the standard for superguns, CMVS, and pretty much any other custom arcade console, etc.
I have an HSS-0130 modded w/neo cables and that is what I use primarily for CMVS.
The NGCD pad is pretty decent and is compatible as well.
I have a couple saturn and SNES pads modded w/neo cables for when I use hand-helds.
But...yes, it's all region free stuff.
My advice, take your time, save up, and get the good stuff, the games are so good you don't need to buy 10 at a time. An MVS copy of Garou can occupy you for 6 months.

Garou is a great game. Great.
DDP II is pretty nice and that cab is great for it - a super easy rotate, much easier than some others.
I assume since bonesnap is looking at converters, he's already made the decision based upon prices of some of the better AES games, thus, since MVS and AES carts and hardware are essentially the same...put the AES stuff you have toward a legit / solid MVS setup, imo.

Re: Best place to get a MVS to AES Convertor?
I've been playing on this all day:

...which is plugged into this:

Using these games:
MVS:
Metal Slug
Metal Slug 2
Megal Slug 4
Garou: Mark of the Wolves
Last Blade
Blazing Star
3 Count Bout
Puzzle Bobble
Shock Troopers
and also with this plugged into the Astrocab:

A Polygame Master with The Gladiator (DoDonPachi is up to bat!)
Is that showing off? No; for two reasons.
1. It's not mine. It is my friend's who just got in all in the mail (Astrocab, as well!) in the past few days. He is just getting into arcade and Neo stuff and went a bit nuts for his first purchases.
2. Mjmjr25 has way more stuff than this.
So BoneSnap... you can buy an AES>MVS converter, but they are expensive and are not fully compatible with all MVS games (depending on the model). Still, I DO understand the desire to play MVS games on your AES. The AES is the real deal original home Neo Geo console. It is a very sexy console and you want to play all your Neo Geo games on it. Some AES games are stupidly expensive, so it makes sense to get the pricey ones on MVS carts. In the end, it is your choice.
Advantages of sticking solely with one of the AES w/MVS converter:
-Looks good.
-Everything (almost) plays on the same console.
Advantages of getting a CMVS
-They are similarly priced, or sometimes cheaper, than an AES>MVS converter cart (depending on which cart you would get).
-If you ever get a JAMMA cab, they can plug right in (open and semi-open port models). No need to get a Neo Geo cab specifically, as they will plug into anything with a JAMMA port. You can then use one cab for not only Neo Geo games... but for most every arcade game you'd want.
Of course, you could do both... get a converter for your AES and also get an arcade cab (CMVS with an open port is a good choice) later down the line.
Decisions, decisions!

Re: Best place to get a MVS to AES Convertor?
mjmjr, do you really think it's worth it to get a CMVS instead of a converter if:
-you already have an AES
-you want to get a cab (such as what was just posted above)?
One thing about MVS carts: you can order shock boxes and very nice inserts for them for around $10 or so each. TOTALLY worth it considering the price of the carts. The plastic on the MVS shock boxes isn't as thick and nice as the AES ones, but they do look incredible.
