They are all damn expensive, and all the models of which I'm aware have problems with some MVS games.

I'd like to get one, but damn, I could get a whole 'nother console at that price.

Post a WTB over on neo forums. I traded my Phantom 1 for $200 in trade. There are less expensive ones but some have conversion issues.

You'll need to spend at least $150 for one w/some concerns or $200 plus for the better ones.

The Phantom 1 has issues with only one of the Metal Slug games I believe. Everything else it converts perfectly.

Why not just get a CMVS instead though?

As for cost, you get what you pay for...

Wow those CMVS consoles are impressive. I had seen them before, but mistakenly assumed they were just redesigned AES systems. But damn, that price is pretty rough too!

Guess I better start saving some dough...

You can get a CMVS in all sorts of price ranges...barebones unit (no encasement, no led's, no component, etc) for about $100-120.

You can get a decent looking unit for $300.

You can get a nice unit for $400-500.

You can get an epic unit for $600+.

Man, $600? thats twice what I paid for my Cab!

Granted, once you get that inital cost entry in, the games are so affordable its ridiculous. I just wish I could get that foot in the door.

Sell your aes and buy a cmvs. I just purchased metal slug 3, bust a move, magician lord, and windjammers. This was the best decision I could have made. My aes and mint garou paid off the cmvs cost by themselves.

Wouldn't an MVS motherboard and JAMMA supergun work as well, for possibly the same price?

Then you would have access to a ridiculous amount of arcade games.

Just an idea. I think it would be worth it to have that JAMMA access.

^Yes, for sure. A supergun will run you the same as the CMVS, the nicer you want it too look, the more AV out options, the more controller input options, etc, will all determine final price point.

But some people like the dedicated console idea.

And most superguns have only composite and / or s-video (and many have RGB as well).

A custom supergun, with component, would be a nice alternative.

Even with my custom supergun, I find I still prefer the dedicated system for MVS / Atomis / PGM games.

It sounds like bonesnap has made the decision to go with MVS carts over AES carts, once that decision has been made...bypass the middle step (converter), sell your AES and get a nice CMVS.

I'll be selling mine once I grab the Analogue one in a few weeks.
