And they conspire to drive our young into paying for the same game year after year....oh wait, that's actually happening.

I'm pretty sure the young would do that with or without critics. I mean I assume you're talking about sports titles and repetitive FPS sequels? I don't really think that consumers are buying those because of reviews.

There's a dual stick control option that uses two N64 controllers. :)

noiseredux wrote:@General, you seem to be pretty concerned with video game critics and their qualifications as you've started other threads in the past about them as well. Just curious if it's just something that interests you in general, or if it's your intention to persue a career as a "critic"?
It's something I like to think about and since I started writting, I have taken it more into account. Not so much as qualifications, but in what makes a good one, and art criticism in general. I also feel videogame criticism and writting is very poor and they are the first ones that can make gaming much more.

I like writting and I like criticism a lot. I would like to work on it but it's something viable as a career, writting never is and writting for videogames looks like icing the cake.

On Goldeneye controls...I have never seen the dual stick option Dinner X mentions, which could be decent but with the default controls, it's very awkard, I think it's not truly freeform, I don't really remember it. Given that not even my friends who love the game and have played it for thousand of hours want to play it again because of the controls, chances are they are a problem for many people.

I'm going to add another game to the list: OutRun. Why? Because it's a racer with incredible level design, with traffic and landscape being an important part of the game. The only racing game I have seen with a similar level design is OutRun 2, and the first already amazes me more than the Classicvanias in how tight the levels are.

Turns out there are more dual controller options than I remembered.

Don't get me started. :x

Sounds like your opinion has been tainted by the "modern" FPS. Also, what DinnerX said, though I've yet to try that method so I can't guarantee that it's a winner. haha

 Thankyou for this! Always great to discover a new form of control in an older game.

As many games as possible.

No critic will be respected if they pick and choose what they want to review. This is like asking "What movie should Roger Ebert review?", the answer is "all of 'em".

That said, I don't know of a popular game reviewer whose soul focus is to actually review a game. It's more about the reviewer's character than an actual review of a game.
