Wow dude when I had a Cube in the past I was dying for a controller like that!

$2 is a DAMN good deal for any kind of Wacom. You should buy the pen! Even factoring in the cost of a new pen, it's STILL a great deal.
Thanks. I looked into various pens online and debating on this. The pad is also missing the clear plastic picture holder, but should work without it. I installed drivers and got the buttons and scroll wheel to work in the pad, but no luck on mouse cursor movement without the pen. Maybe I'll find a pen cheaper at the monthly Electronics Swap Meet. If not might get the pen at Amazon later on since the pad seems to be in working order. Interesting that the wireless pen takes no batteries yet offers the wide range of pressure on the pad for painting.

Nice find!

mjmjr25 wrote:@CRT - Nightmare before Christmas is a surprisingly EXCELLENT game. Has wonderful sprites, an intuitive character control system, and is just a ton of fun watching Jack slaughter the bad guys.
It does look interesting, I'll give it a go tonight. So much other stuff from the run to play with.

Trying to figure a use for the Oscilloscope, Maybe hook it up to the stereo speakers. Anyone else own an Oscilloscope found a weird use for it?

I don't post a lot of my finds, but sometimes it is fun to. Not a lot substantial, but I got these yesterday:

I just got into Gamecube last year, and this is my 25th game for it. I try to be very picky and only get "good" stuff. Starfox Adventures here was $4.99, which I thought was a pretty good deal for it. It's in nice shape.

Time Crisis 4 was also $4.99. One of my friends had three Guncon3s, so he hooked me up with one and a set of sensors (not in the photo).

Final Fantasy Tactics was $2.99. :) Yay! That was a lucky thrift store find. Games like that don't usually last more than 30 minutes in that store, so it must have just been put on the shelf. The other PS1 games were junk.

Toki and Streets of Rage on the Genny were $2.99 each from another thift shore. Marko was .99cent because they thought it was a sports game. 8) Despite having nearly 100 Genny games, I didn't actually have SoR yet. I don't like getting loose games for it, but if they are good titles and cheap I make exceptions. I'll find boxes later and just print labels. That's fine for me.

PGR2 was free (buy 2 get 1 free from the same place I got Time Crisis 4 and Star Fox from). I got it because there are some Yokohama tracks. The tracks are at the main public seaside park area (Yamashita Koen and near the Landmark Tower) of Yokohama, and I am quite familiar with that area. It's really cool to be able to drive there in this game. It's not perfect, of course, but everything is very recognizable.

I want that controller sooooo bad.

*sad me*

On a side note, I notice that you ^ said you recently got into Gamecube and are only playing the good stuff. I too recently got into it (even though I could have been into it when it was actually feasible, I guess I was just a PS2 guy) but make sure you check out the Star Wars Rogue Squadron games if you haven't already. I was blown away by the fact that the Gamecube could put out such great visuals. Those games by themselves have made me a believer, and I haven't looked back since. (hard as hell though)

Also check out Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, and Zelda: Twilight Princess, if you haven't already. Zelda on the GCN is the definitive version in my opinion. Also, if you can't find the component out cables for the cube (which are hard to get) you can play on a compatible Wii, and the component out works just fine for GCN games. And those cables are cheap as hell, anywhere you look.

On a side note, why is the Gamecube called the GCN? I never got the abbreviation?

GameCube Nintendo. My guess is for retail shorthand, it's easier to have all game systems down to three or four letters.

I think to keep it distinct from NGPC (NeoGeo Pocket Color). It is often abbreviated NGC in Japan.

Well, here is what I have for the 'Cube:
Platinum console
2 platinum controllers
2 memory cards (251)
PSU
AV
AV with s-video (I also use on my SNES and N64)
I also have a Wii with component video, so I'm set for the top video quality. :)

I only buy games at $5 or less with very few exceptions. I paid $10 for Wind Waker, Paper Mario. I think $12 for F-Zero. Ikaruga was about $30. Some of these were bought in a buy 2 get 1 free deal. Shadow the Hedgehog was free. The actual console was I think $7.99 with both controllers and a memory card from Value Village 8) .

Games:
18 Wheeler (cheaper than on the DC, although I'd love the DC version)
F-Zero GX (I NEEDED this and was not disappointed. I just love F-Zero games)
Ikaruga (so much cheaper than on the DC! Not my fav. shooter, but I do love it)
Luigi's Mansion (haven't played it much)
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour (wow, really fun!)
Mark Kart: Double Dash (it's Mario Kart, and therefore awesome)
Metroid Prime (haven't given it much time yet)
Metroid Prime 2 (same as above)
NHL Hitz 2003 (Pronger is on it, and we went to the same high school... had to buy it for $1)
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (incredibly fun RPG!)
Pikmin (WOW! I had no idea it was THIS GOOD! I did the 5-minute test... and it lasted 3 days)
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (haven't gotten into it yet)
Shadow the Hedgehog (haven't tried it past the first 5 minutes)
Sonic Adventure DX (played it on the DC. Just tested this version)
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (same as above)
Sonic Heroes (I like this game, to be honest)
Sonic Mega Collection (I am a sucker for Sonic... what can I say?)
Sonic Riders (actually, I was impressed!)
Star Wars: Rogue Leader (this is a launch game that looks better than most others on the system!)
Star Fox Adventures (haven't tried it yet)
Super Mario Sunshine (it's Mario... it's good)
Super Monkey Ball 2 (fun and innovative)
Viewtiful Joe 2 (haven't really gotten into it yet. The visuals are cool, though)
Waverace: Blue Storm (see my F-Zero comments)
Legend of Zelda: Windwaker (haven't played much of it yet. I'm sure I'll like it)

Stuff I still want:
Game Boy Player
Sonic Gems Collection (I've seen it for $10, but I want it for $5. I have it on PS2 anyway)
Super Smash Bros. Melee (I've seen it a lot, but it's usually $20 or so)
Twilight Princess (I have it on the Wii, so there's no hurry here)
2 more platinum controllers (hard to find for cheap! Wavebirds are expensive...)

I also wouldn't mind the other Zelda discs... but they tend to get pricey. I'm not really concerned about Resident Evil or MGS stuff, although I'd buy them for less than $5. Same with Viewiful Joe, Super Monkey Ball, Pikmin 2, etc. I'm not going out of my way for that stuff, since I have other games in the series that suit me fine.

Image

Overall, I don't think the Cube has the same volume of "games I want" as the PS2 or even X-Box does, but the games that are great on it are incredible. As it is so affordable now (and most people have a Wii), it is a shame to miss the great games available on it. There are some really great Nintendo and Sega titles on it that really do make it a worthwhile system. I'm not going to have a TON of games on it ever, but there are definitely 20-30 ones really worth owning.

Pretty excited about my Goodwill finds today. I actually don't know much at all about these games or what they go for but it seemed like a good deal. For $25 ($5 each) I got:

Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy Chronicles
Parasite Eve

Image

All of them, to my knowledge, look to be complete and in awesome condition, the only exception being Final Fantasy Chronicles, which doesn't have any manuals or the Final Fantasy IV disc, but it does have the Chrono Trigger disc. :)
