I feel the same way. The NGPC game has saving, which lends itself well to a portable game.

Try Sonic Advance - it is a lot like Pocket Adventure in terms of level design.
Yeah, Sonic Advance is great. It has that old-school feel to it, but I wouldn't say it's quite as steeped in the old games as the Sonic Pocket Adventure is. The 1st game in the Sonic Advance trilogy is the best one, IMO. (I really disliked the boss-battles in Sonic Advance 2 & 3)

Yes, I remember seeing that game and hoping that it was like the NGPC game. I almost was able to buy it for a discount + bonus points saved up on segadirect.com when it used to still be running, but I couldn't afford it at the time. I'll keep my eye out for it.
