There's still a lot of uncertainty surrounding the western release. The game has a release date of July 5th in Japan. Apparently it's been fully translated and localized for the US and EU, but speculation is that Sega is afraid the game will be another financial failure so they are sitting on the western release for now.

The demo is fucking amazing, best game I've played in awhile. Been playing the online mode all day, single player is great too. Feels like God Hand all over again.

Yeah, it's pretty great. I can understand why Sega is sitting on the western release now. I don't think it would sell well at all. If so, I'm importing the JP version. I will definitely buy this when it comes out. So damned fun. The most fun I've had online since probably my Q3 days!

You know what, it reminded me of Quake 3 right away too, weird. It's seriously a fantastic game, why don't you think it would sell well here though? Personally I simply can't wait to get my hands on this beast so I'm gonna be importing either way. But I hope it gets the attention it deserves and gets brought over. So far every Platinum game has been localized so I expect this will too, but who knows. If I remember correctly Madworld sold very poorly so there's that to consider being that this is basically a sequel.

And for the record, I didn't care for Madworld at all. It fell flat on it's face in trying to be God Hand 2.0. Was just a mindless gore fest with zero substance. This game however, is God Hand 2.0 in every way. The combat is amazing and just absolutely gorgeous, the matches are so intense that it's ridiculous, and wow Platinum just knocked it out of the park big time.

Only downside is that the soundtrack blows. If it was a Fukuda/Takada soundtrack I would probably jizz myself.

There are a lot of reasons...

I don't think the character designs are very appealing to what has become the western gamer. They are very over-the top, very anime. Gritty anime, but still anime. They aren't the aren't the bald space marines that everyone is infatuated with these days. They also aren't the instantly recognizable stereotypes that say, the Street Fighter, cast falls into.

The gameplay isn't very mash friendly once you go up against someone who has been playing for a bit. There seems to be the potential for a pretty large skill gap. Western gamer's aren't very fond of this. They want to hop in and start receiving bread crumbs immediately. I don't think the predominantly melee based gameplay would be very popular, either. Getting caught in a hit-stun-heavy combo is going to frustrate people who are used to holding down the trigger and winning a bullet sponge battle because they had more health. The whining bitch fests that made up the majority of the Lost Planet 2 reviews are a testament to that.

The more I think about it, Anarchy Reigns really feels like a linked cabinet arcade game. Something along the lines of WAR, Outtrigger or Spawn. Super fast paced, intimate combat that's hungry for your credits. I think it would have sold like crazy back in 2001.

Today's generation just doesn't seem to like "arcade" games anymore.

Well, looks like it doesn't matter whether it gets localized or not. I was messing around with the options last night, and to my surprise the game has full english support, even english voice acting (which is hilarious and pretty fitting by the way).

On the main menu, go into the options and select the fifth listing. That will bring up a sub-listing, first option is for voices, second option is for subtitles, third option is for the interface.

So if you were on the fence about trying the game out anyone, you can play the demo in full english.

Yep, been playing in English since my first play.

Platinum said they're finished with the localization and translation. It's ready to go for the US. They could start pressing discs tomorrow if they wanted.

I'm not a fan of rap, but the soundtrack to this game is phenomenal.
