@Alien
Right click the installer > Properties > Compatibility > Try setting it to Windows XP or Windows 98. Be sure to also check the run as administrator box.

Don't worry, I'm with you. The majority of PC game's I'd want to play run fine on it anyway, as they're often 2D, or old school point and click adventure games. My old laptop seemed to struggle with Minecraft.noiseredux wrote:MrPopo wrote:Well there's yer problem.noiseredux wrote:I bought it off the shelfI didn't buy this thing as "a gaming machine." @ryan Thanks, I'll give it a go. I thought to do that, but whwnever I tried to look in the CD to be able to right click the installer ir just started the installation process instead. Unfortunately it'd lock up.
Just got Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle set up in ScummVM. Going well!

Many of my PCs have been off the shelf. The only custom made ones are from old parts people gave me.
@alienjesus
Scummvm supports Discworld II. You can probably just copy these files from the disk to a folder and point scummvm to that folder. Hopefully you don't need run the installer to get those files.
If run into problems playing Grim Fandango ResidualVM supposedly has Grim Fandango completable now.

I actually installed Discworld 2 on SCUMMVM just before I came here. It's a two disc game though, how will that work with it? Do I copy both discs to the same folder or what?DinnerX wrote:Many of my PCs have been off the shelf. The only custom made ones are from old parts people gave me.

As for Grim Fandango, I downloaded an installer tool someone had made for it, which let me bypass the problems i was having with 64 bit windows. Did the same for Jedi Knight.

Yeah just copy all the needed files to the same folder. http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Dataf ... _....21.3F
Some of the files on the two disks have the same names but contain different information. Scummvm gets around this by having you rename those files. From the link:

So just copy files from disc 1, rename them, and then copy the other disc's files and rename them. I'm not sure which disk the other needed files are on, but it shouldn't be to hard to find them.Rename ENGLISH.SMP on CD1 to ENGLISH1.SMP (English version)
Rename ENGLISH.TXT on CD1 to ENGLISH1.TXT (English version)
Rename ENGLISH.IDX on CD1 to ENGLISH1.IDX (English version)
Rename ENGLISH.SMP on CD2 to ENGLISH2.SMP (English version)
