Japanese Sega Saturn work in U.S.?

Post by gokuofheaven »

I purchased a Japanese Sega Saturn recently but is it safe to hook up the power supply in the U.S. (120volts) versus the Japanese (100volts). Would it be better to get a power converter or it is ok to plug in the wall and play. Thank you in advance :D

No need to worry; go right ahead and start playing. 8)

Still don't go playing 8 hour sessions on it. I suggest a step-down convertor of some sort.

A step-down really isn't needed for this type of device. Apart from the fact that I've been using laptops/lamps/consoles/whatever from Japan for years and never had a problem, it is my understanding that voltage in NA is actually a range instead of 120V constantly and anything plus or minus 10 percent in voltage requirement will be fine.

If my house burns down, I'll agree that I'm wrong. :D

Edit: And you shouldn't really be running ANY console for 8 hours without break, anyway. 8)
