Re: Random Thoughts Thread
sorry to take the horse to the glue factory....
but there may be something worse than the brony phenomenon brewing.
Corporate bigshots like that attention is being directed to their product. So all those bronies out there are feeding their pockets.
Kinda like those guy fawkes masks. Warnerbros makes profit off of anons.
anyways. back to my rant. There's two stores in the link below. Read the second one and then the first one above it.

Bronies know the inside joke and know that we hate them for it. But do you think a new type of annoyance will come from CARE BEARS? If they (corporate) tried the same formula as with ponies would any fans jump ship? The whole MLP thing was a surprize for both parties. But If another show thinks its knows its future fans, will they bite? People hate being told what to like and this may happen if the BEAR crowd is not careful.
I just hope that there's no PONIE vs BEAR wars.
if that happens, I'm giving up on the internet!

I've never liked the Beatles. It makes me think if some kind of boy band of today got famous, and later on from now people remembered them fondly and they sold billions of records. Same thing.BoringSupreez wrote:This poll on Gamefaqs is seriously making me lose faith in humanity. It's just not right.
If you want to make the "they started rock and roll!1!!!" argument I hear, then I shall point you to many, many others. For one, Buddy Holly would like to have a word with you.

If you think they're just a "boy band", you might want to put on Rubber Soul, Revolver, or The White Album and point me to anything comparable among the music-less groups of pop singers. What boy bands even play their own instruments? With two guitars, a bass, and drums, not to mention the countless other instruments they've played on various tracks, from simple tambourine to sitar, how is that not rock?Forlorn Drifter wrote:I've never liked the Beatles. No intelligent person makes that claim. If they do, they're clueless. They were certainly pioneers, but no one says they started it all.If you want to make the "they started rock and roll!1!!!" argument I hear, then I shall point you to many, many others. We've all said stupid stuff here on the forum at one point or another, much of it embarrassing or inexcusable. If you are looking for a reason to leave the forum, then I guess you have found one for yourself. But I don't think you've lost one shred of respect with anyone you consider an e-friend over one dumb post. I wish you'd reconsider and stick around, maybe just dial back the posting a bit if you think that makes sense...RyaNtheSlayA wrote:I felt this PM, and my response should be put out in the open.elmagicochrisg wrote:Oh, you're so innocent. You poor thing...RyaNtheSlayA wrote: One last thing. Bruno, if you're an alcoholic I am very sorry about that statement and wish you the best. There's a reason I edited it out. I should have known better than the post something like that, growing up with the mother I did and all.
Like you didn't know...
And you have the nerve calling me a big asshole on a high horse?...I only say it to the known drunks of the forum.
That remark was way worse than anything I have ever said here. Make no mistake about that.
Acting like you didn't know just shows you you're not only an immature prick, but also a hypocrite...
Bye bye Ryan, not gonna miss you...
That was probably the dumbest thing I've ever posted on this forum. I edited it out, but it was too late, and now it's there for everybody to see. To say I feel terrible about it would be an understatement, and I'm still a bit shocked I even typed that in the first place. I'm leaving because there's no way I can have any dignity or self respect after posting something like that. Could you? Many people know alcoholism is something I take to heart. My mother was an alcoholic and an abusive mother and it's nothing that anybody should be attacked over or joked about. I've talked with bruno and we're on good terms. I feel I've managed to every ounce of respect I've had on the forum with that statement.
I've made many e-friends here. People I enjoy talking with and playing with. This forum gave me a sense of belonging and happiness when I was going through the roughest part of my life. It spurred the first charity auction, and made me realize that this is more than just a game forum. It's a community of mutual friends who are willing to give a hand. I still enjoy this place a whole lot, and it has become a permanent staple in my memory. But there's nothing that can express the amount of shame I feel about what I said. I honestly didn't know Bruno was an alcoholic, and even if I did, it's not something that should have ever even entered my brain, let alone anything should I have said. I love this forum and the ideas and conversations it has spurred, but, there's no excuse for what I said, and I haven't felt this terrible in quite a long while.
And that is why I'm leaving.
...and elmagicochrisg, that "not gonna miss you" thing is very douchey. Even if it's a sentiment that's true for you, there's no reason to be an asshole about it.

You know what? I hope you keep doing that because you are one of the biggest douchebags in the forum. Really mate, get off your high horse and stop being a prick, trying to stir up shitstorms everywhere because half of your posts are like this, there's a reason Applequeso got over the edge.elmagicochrisg wrote:Yeah well, there's a few reasons why I frequent DC-talk more often than this place nowadays. Stick around kid.
Asking an alcoholic if he's drunk over a comment might not be in the best taste, but it's nothing that would make me lose respect for you. It was a reasonable question.
I'm surprised anyone thought elagochris would react any differently.

For the record I'm not offended or anything and never was... I think this whole stupid thing got blown way out of proportion.
What? Are you serious? The Beatles aren't my style either, at all, but there's no denying Paul McCartney is a genius song writer. The chord progressions he came up with were just amazing. The Beatles are in no way comparable to the garbage boy bands of the 90s or whatever you're getting at.Forlorn Drifter wrote:I've never liked the Beatles. Beatles, Boy Band not the "Same Thing".
I prefer the Stones myself, but the Beatles are iconic nonetheless. The formula was make music, get chicks, get drugs, retire stinking rich. These days the formula is Make money, get chicks, go to rehab, dance, make music.
If anything the Beatles are the opposite of the boy bands of the 90's and 2000's; they never sold out. There was no over the top deceitful marketing, and they took making music over everything. They took major leaps in music production, for good or bad, but they were experimental and like Pink Floyd pushed the envelope on what music "is and was".
They weren't comprised of a cute one, a bad boy, the super handsome guy, and the trendy homie. These guys were just who they were, and dear God does it show. There was no schtick, in my opinion just four wierd-os who could write incredible music. Plus, major, major philanthropists. JC isn't sending millions to Haiti for hunger relief.

I'm sticking around. Just needed to cool off. A good nights rest helped.
Bought myself X-Wing vs Tie and Layer Section for PC. One kid at my elementary school had X-Wing and would install it on all the non-Macs. Teachers didn't like it very much, but it made for some great lunch and after-school gaming sessions.
Anyways, I love the Beatles, but I'd still put them in the overrated camp. They did some great things, but I still find it surprising that they're as popular as they are.
