Re: Playstation Vita thread

Post by dsheinem »

I just posted my thoughts on Burning Skies over in the Games Beaten thread. I am probably unlike most of you here in that the promise of dual analog for FPS titles was one of the major reasons I bought a Vita at launch, and unfortunately this new Resistance game only partially delivers on that promise. Still, for genre and/or series fans the game is worth playing...and I hope to see some of you in multiplayer soon :)

Both of those look pretty cool to me too. I am also interested in Rayman Origins.

Too bad about the Genesis games, handhelds have always seemed like an ideal platform for retro gaming IMHO. Maybe one day...
Well, fans are pushing Sony to add PS1 (and even PS2) playability on the Vita, heck if my old PSP can play FFVII, FFIX, Xenogears... then why can't my USD $250 Vita do that! It would awesome for the Vita to be able to play PS2 games: Persona 3: FES is a better presentation of P3 than Persona 3 Portable.

I would agree on waiting after E3 to buy the Vita - to see if the Vita gets a price cut, or at least included a 4GB memory card for the Wi-Fi only and 8GB for Wi-Fi + 3G (and please charge people from 16GB and make a 64GB card)

The newly announced Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation bundle looks pretty awesome. If you're on the fence on getting a Vita, I'd wait for that personally. White Vita, memory card, and a game. My bet is it'll be priced at $250 which seems reasonable.

What's odd is it doesn't seem like they're adding support for PS1 games across the board...it looks like a roll out thing. Maybe Dave is seeing otherwise at E3?

It does look like it will be all PSOne Classics: http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/06/vita- ... gradually/, so that's cool.

In other news, I went to go buy Resistance: Retribution on PSN and it's nowhere to be found!

So, I go to the PSN website here and apparently it is UMD only? I swear this was available before, what the heck? Sony is really inconsistent with this sort of thing and is starting to really annoy.

You and I had this conversation before. It was ironic because it was one of the titles they used to demonstrate the secondary stick mapping for the PSP games. Also, it's a game that on the PSP could be played using a dual shock 3. Sony is really weird sometimes......

A bit disappointed with Sony's presentation of the Vita @ E3, I wasn't expending a price cut for the hardware (this week retailers are offering USD $50 gift cards for buying a Vita) - its still within the first 6-months, but the lack of showing off new games that are in development or scheduled for later this year.

Hopefully in September at the Tokyo Game Show, Sony will come up with more, don't expect Kaz to fix everything within a year, folks! The fiscal year for many companies is usually in the spring, which means where to put the money in the company for the next 6-months and beyond, and the TGS may be the opportunity to see what Kaz has for the vision of the future of Sony.

Sony forgets to mention there are 25 new Vita games at E3

EDIT: The 25

I can confirm that there were more than that playable on the show floor also...

@dsh What are your most anticipated Vita titles after the show?

Whoa, they actually demoed the Hatsune Miku Vita game? That's a bit of a welcome surprise. I know that isn't even close to being a localization confirmation, but the fact that it's possible to happen at all is quite interesting. Also, I'm really glad Persona 4 The Golden got an E3 demo; it's probably the best game in the immediate pipeline for the handheld.

Also, who else here saw the multiplayer trailer for "When Vikings Attack", and immediately thought "Holy crap, it's Poy Poy 3!"?

Finally, judging from the trailer, it looks like Vyse from Skies of Arcadia will be playable in the next Sega All-Stars Racing game. That's a neat little addition, but I won't rest until Ristar is a playable character! He would be so perfect for the game!
