We are currently developing a portable gaming system based on the Ingenic jZ4770 1GHz processor.
The hardware is in prototype stage and we are tweaking and adding things as the open source community tells us what they would like in this device.
The Open Source community has always wanted more so we have taken it upon ourselves to develop a console as close as we can to what the open source community wants.
We already have a core development team for the hardware and have started working with three developers for the actual OS development on the console which is in prototype phase also.
In the future we also plan on asking game and app developers to join the fold to further the development of the product into a full spectrum device.
The final goal is to have a gaming system with a Repository like Android app store where apps/games can be downloaded for free or purchased from developers on the repository. We are in development phase of this also with another group also called MyITKnowledge.com.
Below you will find specs of the device.

Re: New Gaming Console coming
I'm on the lookout for an open console and I wonder: How much will this console cost?
I would ask about Dos/PC support but it's probably too early for that.

Why would I bother with this when I can just buy a GP32, DS or PSP if I want to emulate stuff? Maybe I'm just ignorant? I don't know.
It does look cool in the videos, but it this really something I would want to buy when there are other competitors out there?

I would like to check this one if offers something different from the PSP.Breetai wrote:Why would I bother with this when I can just buy a GP32, DS or PSP if I want to emulate stuff? Maybe I'm just ignorant? I don't know.

1- MAME emulator, so i can play any arcade game on the go.
2- Second thumbstick. And better thumbsitck than the PSP.
3- Good emulation of the N64. Maybe you need more buttons on the system.
4- Great Battery life (at least 6-8 hours).
5- Good price (the most important).
And can you show how this runs RMVB videos? It supports subtitles in .srt or .sub format?
Just checked the blog and if the price is 100 to 120$ sounds good to me, if can run MAME

Re: New Gaming Console coming
I wasn't able to get mame4all to run on my fat psp, so i tried Final Brun ALpha and played TNMT the arcade game... or at least tried to play the sound was awful and the framerate really low... was ok without sound.Breetai wrote: PSP runs MAME... I'm just saying...

Re: New Gaming Console coming
I saw all those numbers and I was like
I hope its good. If it does emulation like others have said here, then we're all good.
But for all that power behind the specs, if theres no good games for it, then whats the point.
There have been many console failures before and this one may be no exception. Does your console have the staying power to be relevant in this PS/360/NIN market?
GIZMONDO ANYONE?
What ever you do Mr. Game Developer, dont do a gizmondo and crash your fancy car.
better yet, dont waste investors money if you cant do it right.

Re: New Gaming Console coming
Because those can't emulate the games a more powerful console can. The DS barely can cope with Quake and the PSP can't move OutRun at a playable speed, much less emulate the Amiga or run stuff via Dosbox.Breetai wrote:Why would I bother with this when I can just buy a GP32, DS or PSP if I want to emulate stuff? A 1Ghz Pandora costs six times as much as this console, and as interested I am in the Pandora, having a cheaper alternative is important to me. Don't know if you are rich but spending 600$ in a portable is quite a feat for mexan_racketBOY_fan wrote:I'd get a Pandora over this.
I don't think open consoles cater to the same market Sony or Nintendo do nor they are meant to.flojocabron wrote:Does your console have the staying power to be relevant in this PS/360/NIN market?
